Should I have one, currently have a Cerbera 4.2 and am thinking about a Viper. What should expect to pay for one and what should I expect the running costs to be.

I've seen the minimum price (on ukviperclub) to be about £35k, and running costs are said to be minimal with only changing of a few parts. These cars are reliable so the costs are low.

Tuning potential
Reliable (built to endure higher stress levels)
Good handling
Head turning; rare
Very good brakes on the SRT10 (distance to stop from a certain speed is just 2ft higher for SRT10)

I've never even seen a Cerbera in person, much less driven one, so I can't really offer a comparison.

However, here are some reasons to buy an SRT-10:

440 horsepower and 480 foot-pounds of torque at the rear wheels means that acceleration will likely be better than your Cerbera.

Convertible top is wonderful for sunny days.

Quite reliable and low maintenance.

Traffic stopping good looks.

Amazing brakes and handling.

A good daily driver that is lots of fun at the track.

Probably fewer SRT-10s in the UK than Cerberas.

Hmmm...I think not.

A Viper weighs around 1600kgs.
A Cerbera weighs not much over 1000kgs.

Power to weight means a lot. Cerberas are very quick cars.

There are a number for sale on the UK Viper Club website - that's a good place to start: www.ukviperclub.org/page8.html

Maintenance and servicing is not really a concern on with the Viper. The engines are bullet proof (touches wood) with service schedules from the book @ 7500 miles or 1 year. Last years service cost me £160 including MoT and steam clean underneath from a Chrysler dealer.

cerbera is a cool car if only they were reliable I'd have one, I've read lots of horror stories regarding reliability enough to put me off ever owning one. Great noise and peformance with sweet interiors.

Just park a GTS and a Cerbera together and you'll soon see the difference, and so will passers by.
Viper running costs are minimal, with no real worries' Bet fuel consumption is much different than the 4.2, cheap insurance, spare parts ready available, rarity and unlike the Cerbera hardly any depreciation after the intial 2 years... prices for a decent 97/98 GTS have been around £37K-40 for about 3 years, early gen1 RT/10's normally start at around £25K
