2012 events discussion
Discussion
Seems like it might be a good time to start thinking about events for next year so we can initially get some fixtures into the calendar and have something to look forward too, but more importantly get some discussion going between group members.
So now's the time to voice up:-
Anything new you fancy doing? Anything you've done before and fancy doing again? What about things the group haven’t done for a long time?
I’ll start by proposing another track day at Silverstone, maybe early June - we should look at something a little less expensive this time though - and pick a day with perfect weather, again.
So let’s start talking about what we want to do, bounce the ideas around a bit and get some dates into the Event Dates wiki.
What say you?

Well..... If cash is willing.... I would love to have a go at Spar
Also...
Le mans 24hr....(In a Viper)
Le mans Classic.(In a Viper)
The Usual Petrolhead Nirvana events
Dads Day Out, Top Gear Track
Ford Test Track Dunton
Im not really up for many Track days, as to be honest I dont trust other non Viper drivers and I value my car too much. I would be up for a Hill climb event At least then I would be the only idiot on track
Earlier on this year we got invited to Waddlesdon manor with the Mustang club, it was a really great venue and a good day out And of course there is Supercar Sunday (Jays event)
So that's a few items from me, lets see what other members would like to do
Forgot American Air Day Duxford That is also a good event and we do seem to get a few Vipers there
Better start saving now

Just to add my few pence, and I appreciate a lot of what I do isn't necessarily club type events. Next year I am looking forward to:
Wheels Day (just love all the Americana on show)
Some of the breakfast clubs, esp the very busy Super Car Sunday one.
The Goodwood Revival, really enjoyed this year even though it rained on Sunday
Dads Day out - Richard and Mark this year would have had Morecomb and Wise in stitches
I'm a bit vague on the rest and expect to play it by ear a bit but might be tempted to a Silverstone type event but I will add a huge 'might' to that. I'd also like to make the Duxford event but as its a Friday thats often hard.

Seeing as there has not been a large response to the question, all I could guessis that not all UK VCA members come on this site!
It might be a good idea to email all members with the same Question
I would love to meet up with more members but 'Generally' Luton Lunch and American Air day seem to be the only events we get a good turn out on. Of course the reason for this is because they are fairly central locations which most members can afford to get to

Of course the next Luton Lunch will be the 10th Anniversary special (and my 10th) so that is a must have
Santa Pod is always good - either a day when we can take the cars on track, or maybe just one of the Top Fuel days. There's not many on during the year, but if you've never seen an 8000hp top fuel dragster run, it's a MUST!
Silverstone Classic would be one on my list - missed it this year.
The Nürburgring would be nice, but that's a maybe.
I think a SVR (Southern Viper Run) would a great, but would require a lot of organising

Would anyone be interested in a short break in France, something along the lines of depart early Saturday morning, could go and visit Honfleur or Atlantic wall stuff, stay overnight in a Chateau and return Sunday with a boot full of Wine and smelly cheese
They do have some good roads in France

I'm more than happy to make the necessary arrangements for the Silverstone Classic for 2012.
Their website says this is provisionally 21st July..... http://silverstoneclassic.com/press-and-media/key-...
Some great ideas so far.
GTSDave has offered to re-organise the Event Dates Wiki –
Continuing the thread, what does everyone think about having a club gathering during a weekend in summer? This would not only give us an opportunity to get together but allow us to invite our friends from Europe and return their hospitality. Graham and Matty have already suggested the Silverstone Classic which I think would fit well as the main attraction for a club weekend http://silverstoneclassic.com. Maybe get some VIP hospitality from Silverstone to make it extra special.
To make it more appealing we could also look at including a Viper run and track driving event.
Voting here either way but don't let that stop you talking about it in this thread.

I can think of Five members for your club so far
It goes without saying, but I will anyway, "Ex Viper owners and friends will be more than welcome at anything we do."

Great thinking ahead and doing a calendar Ade.
For me personally, track time be it circuit, drag strip, standing mile, drifting, competing / hill climb, and most of all charity fund raising rides.
I've already got a few dates in next years diary for such and could look at getting some Viper-club places perhaps?

Last year I got followed for a while by a French gentleman while trying to find my hotel on the way back from Le mans, we chatted about my car and he handed me his business card, he is the Sales and Marketing Manager for the above company and I think invited me down to have a look at this?
I still have the business card so its possible we could do something in the future
Anyone interested? Ive no idea of costings but it looks great Link up with the French Club?
