The spy shots depict a pair of test-mules for the future Viper, with its new front-end attached to the body of the current generation car. This is because engineers are testing air flow and cooling for a brand new engine, which makes sense as these prototypes were spotted in the extreme heat of California’s Death Valley.

And while it won’t get a Ferrari designed engine as previously speculated, Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles has hinted that some of the Italian supercar brand’s know-how will filter into the next Viper.
Its styling, meanwhile, has been described by Gilles as inspired by a “naked woman on the beach”.
Look out for the debut of the 2013 Dodge Viper early next year, possibly at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January

Just to add a little intriugue I have just discovered these renderings... I wonder if these might be pretty close to what we will eventually see... Especially considering the design brief behind them:

Interesting stuff 
Saw the 2013 in the flesh at VOI11 and it looks nothing like those renderings.....wish I could draw!
The roof has a very pronounced double bubble and the rear window was much more kidney shaped as the roof line comes down in the middle at the back. The rear lights were similar in shape to the Aston Martin rear lights with a central mesh in each of the light units. The front lights had Audi type lines of LEDs running across the bottom and up the outside edges. The front grill was carbon fibre as was the rear centre section.
Side exit exhausts, and a much more pronounced duck tail like the GTS rather than the SRT/10.
Overall it looked very nice but obviously what we saw was October 2010 so it may change a lot before it hits production.
