Guys....................we really need to confirm this, it's not an old pals act but a business if you get me the money ASAP its a go then if you don't then no Christmas do.

Don't mean to be pushey but it's not far for me and Barbs to pay up front for people who may not attend later.

I do not have a problem with a table for two..................Me and Madmax.

Sorry Neil but no we have to pay for the evening at least a £10.00 deposit and its a lot of effort as you can see to collect the money once let alone twice, if I have full payment I can pay the hotel up front and its all done.

If you wish you can do a bank payment into my account so PM me for details.

The clock is ticking on this they will not hold the places much longer if you really want this to happen then become part of it!!

ETA: If it's a carvery, then is there really a choice required? Either way, can't read the menu! nuts

Yes, you're right, it is a bit hard to read. Must try harder. hehe
Is this any better?

The only choice you need to make ahead of the meal is your starter.
I'll update the Wiki later.
Ade.

OK thats it, we are one day after our cut off date to confirm with the hotel and the event is as far as I can see closed, for those that have sent you the money I thank you and will confirm with the hotel today that 14 places is enough and the 30 covers, 15 couples we thought would be going are not.

Bit of a disappointment, that more of use could not attend, perhaps these are the death throws of the UK Viper Club still after 13 years its been a blast.

I have to say that alluding to the winding up the UK Viper Club on the grounds of poor attendance to a dinner near the date of the
annual commemoration of the alleged birth of a fictional character seems a bit much... Would have loved to have been there, but unfortunately Child care on that date is not looking possible, and as we wouldn't know for sure until later this week I was not going to attempt to hold up proceedings.

Would love to have been able to have been there. Especially considering the fact that unfortunately, due to other things occuring this year, the last time I saw many of you was at last years dinner, but hopefully I will be able to make it to something next year. The Viper has barely left the garage since March, so it would definitely be good to stretch its legs at some point soon, and catch up with everyone.

Hope you have a great evening!

True Dave, but cars sold, written off, not replaced, people posting about great events that others are not invited too and little support for Germany this year, no Bruntingthorpe and the list goes on.

Perhaps people don't understand the work that people have to do just to get a little event like the Lunch off the ground, is quite a lot and don't even mention the renewals that were still happening in July and the records that I have to keep on cars VIN numbers.

Both Ade and myself have made calls visited the venue and now changed it to a Saturday due to a cancellation at the hotel, and people who wanted it on a saturday, still are not coming.

Perhaps its me, perhaps its time to go, next year someone else can step up to the plate.

Come on Paul, Luton lunch was good, Duxford was good smile Being honest we are all a fair way away from each other. We use PH to chat and look under the Events/Meetings as to what's going on around the country. The various events are posted there and normally there is a sign up list to who's attending, so its fairly easy to see weather there are any Viper owners going smile Sometimes these events get a bit boring if you have done them over the last few years so its good to try a different event now and again. Well done to MAX sorting out the Track day at Silverstone, people who attended said they had a great time, but when you add the whole day up, it cost a few bob, (fuel etc). Im sure too that with the current economic climate people have been focused more with work matters than having fun with the toys. Next year I would like to do the Le mans Classic, and would NOT even consider any other mode of transport other than My Viper. Ok we own Vipers, but there are many different personalities within the group. Im sure I must drive members up the wall now and again biggrin

As for the Christmas Dinner, Im not saying I dont want to go, but I just can not commit so early frown

I almost can't believe I'm about to say this, but Mark has pretty well summed it up there... That's two posts in as many days from him that I have been left virtually astounded by! I'm off for a lie down...

I understand what you are getting at, but things change, there is nothing that can be done about that, as you have said before, it's not just about the cars, it's about the friendship, and prime examples of that for instance Fishboy has sold his car and is still attending, Brett hasn't ever owned a Viper and still attends, it's generally about the friendships we have forged, rather than the vehicle we drive.

Events that we haven't had invites to come down to the organisers of those events, sometimes you get invited, sometimes you don't, it's just the way these things go, and at the end of the day it's down to whether you chose to attend many of the events or not, and/or whether you are able to attend or not. As for events like Germany, they are costly events to attend, and whether you like it or not the kind of money that it costs to attend a long weekend in Germany is not just pocket change, which is often a deciding factor in who attends.

Everyone appreciates what goes in to these events, and anyone who organises, or attempts to organise an event will understand the frustration that comes from lack of interest, or poor attendance, but you can't enforce attendance, and if someone doesn't come to something for whatever reason it's not a personal attack, sometimes there is nothing that person can do about it, and often they may not even be able to tell you the real reason they can't come...

Just go with the flow, there is no point in getting your knickers in a twist over something so trivial, and quite frankly, if the toys are going to get thrown out of the pram everytime someone doesn't get what they see as being their own way it's hardly conducive to interesting people to attend in the first place.

As for this statement... Please!? Do we REALLY have to do this EVERY year??? Pack it in! Everybody loves you, everybody wants you to stay.

I do not very often post, but i feel i have to say something here, Paul what you have said i have taken personally, last year Mich & I lost our daughter Lucy in November as you all know, but Mich & I still attended the christmas meal and stayed over, this year we have may have not committed to many events, we even thought about a northern viper run but could not commit, we cannot make the christmas do, why because we have Lucy's inquest at the end of October and her 1st anniversary on 4/11, so this year we decided to go away later than normal, for a month, and we are taking my sister who incidently has a tumour and who will not recover, I am telling you this because you really have no idea what affects peoples lives! As a proffesional man and as president of the UK branch of the VCA please speak to us individually if you want to know why we cannot go! I am hurt, Mich did not want me to write anything, but what i am trying to say is please do not generlise all of us in your comments, i know you are angry at the lack of response, but believe me,if we could attend we would and you guys going enjoy yourself and we bear no malice, just sorry we cannot join you, maybe next year we can get together, we will be at the Luton lunch and any other event we can manage, but please do not have a short sharp memory
take care all Susie xx
