I am planning to fit new headers (1.75 inch) and a high flow exhaust system to my 2000 Viper GTS, followed by (subject to funds) a Roe supercharger.

Two questions:
a) does this plan make basic sense?; and
b) as I live in S wales is there anyone who would fabricate the headers and exhaust locally, or should I go to a specific supplier elsewhere? I don't want to get this bit wrong!

I also understand that the existing pistons and bearings etc should be OK to cope with the extra torque and horsepower provided by the supercharger, but that I may need to fit a higher flow rate fuel pump.

Thanks!

as the Dr. say, you wont need a hi flow pump as you can only run low boost without swapping the internals

i doubt youll find someone in the UK who can supply the exhaust nevermind south wales, loads of work and expense for a one off even then you still take the chance it will be crap, maybe except for Janspeed.

It really need to be a proven company like Borla,Corsa,B&B,Belanger etc

Thanks for the advice All. I think I will begin with the headers etc, and if I do the supercharger will keep the boost low initially. Piston and rings seems too big a job and complicated just now!

Hayward and scott, fantastic one off headers built, I had a complete set with exhausts built by them for my cobra, they do the build and fit,and really not expensive.

google them

I'd say decide if you are doing the super charger first and figure out the budget for the whole package, if that's too much then there probably isn't much point in putting the headers on, the 2000's came with tubular headers anyway, and while they arent as good as bellangers et al IMHO your not going to get value for money on their own, your not going to see the same performance gain we do in the earlier cars with the cast manifolds.

However if your putting a supercharger on they become more a pre-req but then as others have said you may also want pistons and other bits as well then.

Thanks for the comments which are all very helpful. I'm arranging to have the exhaust replaced with a (probably)2.5 inch stainless system with high flow cats. The exhaust guy (Pro Speed in Cardiff - he's done a few vipers in his time he said, mostly in Bristol area) also said that changing the headers at this stage would create a lot more noise but not much more power, and they could be done later if the supercharger was fitted.

He also said that a 3 inch system would put the decibel levels above what a lot of tracks will permit, which I don't want to happen. I've orderd the high flow air filter and smooth tubes.

Does anyone run a methanol air cooling system?

I got the exhaust changed last week at Prospeed in Cardiff - 2.5 inch pipes with high flow cats. It sounds much nicer, but not too loud, has definitley improved performance - but not dino'd so don't know by how much. What surprised me most was that the low speed driving is much better - it used to hop at low revs in 2nd, 3rd, 4th between 15 and 30 mph, but that has completely stopped happening and it is so much nicer to drive in traffic. smile
