GOOD NEWS ....... back on line , computer finally up and running new modem sorted, so now lots of catching up to do smile

BAD NEWS ......... managed to get a sound test done on the Viper today !!! frown

98db on tickover ( good news ) biggrin
102 db @ 2500 rpm ( good news ) biggrin
110 db @ 3500 rpm ( bad news ) furious

so Silverstone as a driver , looking a bit unlikely at the moment , but not giving up YET !!!!

ive seen a thread about the demon tweeks muffler http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Motorsport/Exhausts/...
with figures of a noise reduction of about 5bd ???

just wondering if this is a serious option ??? anyone have any real track experience on a viper with these ???

still looking into other options as well
thanks

Les

speak to Nad, I'm pretty sure she has also used them on her S/C GTS,
there's a lot of fabrication to get them to fit

Have you read this article? Basically it's saying that if you have the right system you can have power maximisation with no souind issues.

The Decibel Devil from Advantage Motorsport looks good - but it wont fit side exit pipes..

JonB from Partsrack has said that for side exits, he has "Velocity Cone" insert mufflers that can be placed inside temporarily.

Does anyone have any more info on these, are they any good, easy to fit, likely db reduction? Ive searched the web (and partsrack) but didnt turn up much..

They don't make a substantial diffrence, I wont go as far as saying they didn't do anything because i didn't test them properly and i think probably they do reduce some noise, but they are not going to bring you down from 110db to 98db. think more along the lines if your borderline they may tip the balance!

Add to that you will feel ripped off when you open your $100 box and all they are is about $2 worth of perforated sheet steel cut and wrapped in a cone with a couple of tabs welded on for you to weld to the exhaust. Get yourself down to a sheet metal fabricator and they could probably knock some up for a few quid from scraps on the floor.

Oh. I thought they would be a more temporary fit than that. I dont want to do any welding :-((

On an 06 SRT/10, im running the Corsa system with hi-flo cats & stock headers - im not sure what the db is right now (im guessing at 110ish) but will try and measure this weekend.

well that's what they said in the instructions, i drilled a hole and put a bolt in with a double nut, but then i put them in at the headders so there wasn't much chance of them being spat out the back if they came loose.
