Here's a crazy idea...

Would a Dodge Viper GTS (coupe) make a usable daily driver in the UK?

What's the service interval and how much does it cost (and who the hell would do it)? What's the actual MPG like stuck in traffic? Parts availability a nightmare?

If you can afford it you should do it. You can always sell it for about what you sold it for if you don't like it. The prices are pretty stable.

At a guess I'd say it's not ideal and makes no sense BUT for that very reason you should do it. It's the Chuck Norris of daily barges smile

Why not?

It has a bigger boot than a lot of superminis.

I say do it. Don't worry about servicing or fuel until after you have bought it. wink

This. A true Petrol head will buy the car, then realise after owning it for several months they can't afford to run it / it isn't practical etc and then sell it on and lose money on it. It's part of the lifestyle.

Do it and keep us updated CW7 stylie. You'll be my personal hero for commuting in a Viper at £1.40 a gallon mile.

Heavy clutch may become tiresome, but hey ! if you're not stuck in traffic it'll be blast.

Wouldn't have thought service intervals are anything outlandish if they are anything like the 'vettes of the same 'era'

As someone who has already done this in a convertible SRT-10 I would say do it. Service intervals are in the manual, mpg is between 4 and 24 depending on your driving style and you'll be happier in a Viper in traffic. For a start you can sit there with the air con keeping you cool while you blip the throttle and melt everyone else wink Seriously though, if you have any other questions then just drop me a PM smile

The ONLY drawbacks are the width of car when you go to Tesco's, and the MPG that will rarely venture into the teens.

Other than that - and speaking as someone who owns and has used one as such - no problems.

You don't want that one, too many surprises in store if you don't do your homework.. Actual mileage is not what is advertised and there are other anomalies, not to memtion a hideous fabricated exhaust.. Plenty of threads on here about that one.. Get a Carfax done on that one and make informed decisions, an Hpi check alone will not tell you about the US history.. Speak to us here, most cars in the Uk are known to us.

Sounds like a great idea to me, I have been using my supercharged zm coupe daily for about 2 years (caged, bucket seats, 6 points harness etc and about 11 mpg), now I am using the mustang which is much more civilized....like 15 mpg in the city. The only drawback - all the stupid f**** on the road, why people cannot park? why people don't pay attention when they open their doors? I have scratches and dings and that really p*sses me off. now for real - does it make sence? not all, but would be so much fun and you would be driving to work with the biggest grin on your face. Gotta admit that drove the viper without plates couple of times to the office and my day started much better lol

It depends on what your definition of daily driver is, is it something you use to commute to work in and go to tesco's rather than pure weekend show stuff. or are we talking only car. if the latter then its been done by the stoat above, but i wouldn't recommend it and less so in a gts. if you have any kind of hill that may get snow covered your not getting up it. however if the former then that's what i do. I use it for anything i would use any other car for, ok maybe the camaro gets the dump run duty, but other than that it comes down to how i feel and whats parked where each morning. there are plenty of bigger normal cars on the road so the tesco comment above is a bit strange, lhd is a bit of a pain at a barrier but not impossible.

To be honest though with the cost of a gts, the insurance and gas price i see no reason for anyone not to have a £500 snotter as an alternative
