So the Canadia weather has decided to not be so polar bear friendly and the opportunity to get on track this week popped up out of the blue.
So getting the 1098 ready with new Metzler Racetec K2's and a general check over got me thinking about how long since my last outing....
2016 in South Africa eek
Where does the f#%king time go ???
So on the upside, my leathers still fit (apparently I never shifted that last xmas pudding!!) tyre (tire for the continental brethren) warmers still work and everything else seems OK and ready to go.
The destination? Mosport near Toronto which is a stupidly fast track although we're booked on the shorter DDT (driver development track) which is pretty much 2nd and 3rd for a fast 600 rider. Should be fun riding the broad torque of the 1098 but hopefully going to be able to set up the Duc a little for future outings.
Moral of the story...
Get out there, ride, enjoy yourself and remember that in life, no one gets out alivehehe

It'll be 3 years for me next Month since I was last on track. I took the R1 for a MOT last week and I couldn't get my Right foot on the peg there and back.

Not much chance of me ever getting back on, its a hard pill to swallow since my first one at Brands Hatch in 1983 at a Race School.
Sorry to hear that John, sucks balls.
And if you were at Brands why didn't you stop in for a cuppa??? I lived down the road behind BH under the M20 in those days!!!!
And regardless, you’ve achieved more than most ever do regardless of the challenges you’ve faced. And for that you should be proud of yourself. Age gets us all bud…. wink

I thought you were the other side of the country Steve?
Calgary has gone a bit sideways so I’m “working from home “ at the moment.
But moves are afoot, looks like I’ll be heading to Toronto soon…… watch this space wink

Crikey... just got back from the track, three and a half hour drive. Great day, lots of fun and awesome to be back in the swing.
Forks started leaking so went for an early bath. Understandable for a bike that has stood for several years...
Otherwise, bike was in good fettle and I forgot what a lovely engine the 1098 is compared to the 1198. Metzler K2's were spot on, no tears or weird goings on...
Track is quite nice with sections that remind me of Oulton Park or Lyden Hill. Really made for 600's but apparently there's a TD at the full fat Mosport track in August... need to start earning more browny points with the wife hehe
