Charidee auction yesterday, there was an IAM bike course up for grabs, i got it for £105. It only costs £120 from IAM themselves, but at least this way the money goes to charity.

I reckon once ive got my license ill leave it a couple of months and then book the IAM course and improve on what ive learned.

Sorted

Do people here think IAM courses are worthwhile? The price includes the test as well, so hopefully ill get an insurance discount.

Any kind of advanced training is worth it on a bike, since the focus of most of it is keeping you in one piece. Compliments nicely with a bit of work on the track

There is a saying that advanced training is the best after market accessory money can buy and I personally think that rings true!

I still get a real buzz seeing a student I have trained or tested attaining a high standard of ability, and it is even more enjoyable when you see what i call the "Grin Factor" start to appear which usually occurs as the penny starts to drop when they get their heads round certain aspects of advanced riding.

You never stop learning, the day you decide that you know everything there is to know is the day you should hang up your keys and do something else.

Enjoy it and let us know how you get on!

Cheers guys. Itll be a while before i book it though - i got a 6 hour skid pan course for christmas (i had an MR2 at the time and winter was approaching) and i still havent got around to booking it. It seems a little pointless now as my car is a £100 shed, but im sure itll be helpful/fun.
