Back protectors
Discussion
Afternoon all,
Just wondering if anyone has got any preferances, appoligies if this has been done before.
I have an 'old' knox back protector (foam type), it has served me well and i have crashed plenty in it. Looking around there seem to be better (with more protection) on the market at the moment.
I have noticed that knox are due to release a new type soon taylored to different back lengths, i spoke to infinity who said they were due to be out sometime in march? Anyone managed to buy one yet?

Just make sure you get one that covers your coccyx (sp?) and your upper shoulder blades. Are you using it for track or road use? I think the knox race long is good, although I use a soft impact absorbing type (crowtree) with a hard dainese (die-easy) one over the top to take the initial smack down (in a WWF sort of way).
Each to their own really. I wouldn't get on a bike without one though. Off-road I use the knox shirt that has chset protector, back protector, etc all built in. OK for supermoto as well.

If you can get one with a waist band - the sort with a strong 15cms wide 'kidney-belt' type arrangement - this should stop the thing riding up. Lots of them have shoulder straps, like a rucksack, although these end up riding up your back as you say....
Depending on your current type, you can find some wide elastic, stitch/glue some velcro on to each end, then glue the badger onto your existing protector - all for around 3-4 quid!
PS check out the dog in the link below and click on the link in pink below the dog. I thought it was quite amusing... www.firebox.com/index.html?dir=firebox&action=product&pid=752

This is the one i used, and not long ago, asa reslt of a nice volvo driver, I landed on said part of body.. without it, wheelchair bound i was predicted to be. To me, riding without it, is like riding without a lid...
