Ive just got an insurance quote for a Suzuki Bandit 600 - now consider that it will be my first bike (when i pass my test) and im only 22 - i was expecting stupidly high figures.

But nope - £561 TPFT. Thats DAFT - thats only a couple of hundred quid more than my MR2 insurance and on that i have 2 years NCB and have had my car license for 4 years. LMAO

on a bandit6 you're less of a risk than on, say, a gixxer6 or a CBR.

Nice. I had to pay double that for a CBR600 (I was 22 and it was my first bike too)

p.s. Who's the quote with?

Thats with Bennetts. Its limited to 5000 miles mind, and itll be kept on my driveway with a disklok on it, plus a hefty cable lock thing. I also had to put down a £200 involuntary excess. There was a strange question though that asked how long id had a licence, whether id had bike insurance before and then whether id had a bike before, which seemed strange. I ticked yes as i have a 250 trail bike that i ride on private land, its not road legal though!

Try ringing the AA.
I got insurance though a company called Hastings For someone that has just passed their CBT and a 125. They quoted me £311 for the year. Not bad considering some companies wanted £2000K+ (f'king joke)

Oh forgot to mention that i'm now 23, there is unlimited miles and i can use the bike to get to and from work too!

What they said, but my recommendation goes to Carole Nash, they're quite excellent.
