Depending on your mileage, running costs may be noticably higher.

Would do a low milage on it as i would keep the CBR as a commuter bike

I think i saw a few 916 for over 5k in MCN bike trader so i think may be a bargain as the guy is a sunday morning rider so it should be well looked after

Ive heard that they don't like sitting for ages without being run has it causes the cambelts to perish.if its been used often it should be ok though i don't think it would be much faster than the CBR it sounds like its a good deal though.

The belts tend to 'crack' if sitting too long as they are quite severely 'bent' through the tensioners etc, I have always had new belts fitted at every service as they check tension etc anyway and the cost, about £50 - £60, on top of the service for new belts is good 'insurance' - if belt breaks will do serious engine damage and could easily cause a major crash if engine seizes mid-bend

If you buy it, get it serviced & new belts. The price you're talking about sounds good to me, as long as you don't mind paying more for the servicing (expensive) then you won't regret it.

As for not being much faster than a CBR, maybe not on 'paper' but with the extra torque & drive out of bends I think you'll find it much faster in 'real world' conditions.

BTW as compensation for the servicing costs a 916 will use less fuel than a CBR!
