well this morning its gale winds, pouring rain, and generally no day to be out on a bike. So I came in the car to work.

But the only people I see on bikes are peugeot scooter owners.

they win my award for bravest all year weather mentalists!!

I was out on the bike too,it was horrible! suffice to say I've come to the conclusion that (making a sweeping generalisation here) scooter riders have been granted an invisible forcefield as they clearly have no regard for their own lives.

Ya big girls

I was out on my SV, from Gatwick to Docklands, and I got soaked, worst ever.
My neck warmer was dripping wet and so were my gloves, but otherwise all dry.

Personally i rode mine to the station (6 miles) this morning as usual because Im too tight to pay £4 to park my car in car park. Whats a bit of foul weather compared to savings like that?

Me too, a bit of water but only got a little damp, the first thing to give way were the boots, then for some reason my coat, but just at the belly section
Saw a few other riders out as well but not many, and if any nodded sorry I was trying to avoid the deepest of the standing water

Every weekday morning at 6.45 a rev & rip type goes past the bottem of our drive. Rain, sleet, for, snow and ice make no difference.

Don't know what it is cos it's too dark to see!

He or she is either f***ing hard or can't afford a car!

I admire the rider because I'm just getting up and waiting to see the forecast before deciding bike or car.

I made the choice to take the bike every day unless I can't (i.e. enough ice or snow)
If I ditch the bike and use the car it costs me about £20 on the train/tube, can't be doing that too often.

Most of my gear held up well today but I don't understand how my gloves got wet, I tuck them inside the jacket sleeve so the water runs outside the glove but I could feel my wrist getting wet after about 10 miles, at 25 my palms were getting wet, at 50 the whole glove was wet and so was the neck tube.

I don't recall getting wet gloves with the last jacket I have unless its the gloves now?

Mags what time did you go in the morning ?

While sitting in traffic queuing for the Blackwall tunnel (at about 10:30), a Yellow SV went past me (I was in a Black Mk1 Golf)

Well I ride a Gilera Runner and only ice or snow will stop me taking to the roads. 80mph and 70mpg is a lot better than the stinking expensive bus, train, tube, tube, bus "alternative"....

hey, *another* SV rider? cool ! I had a mk1, loved it, but it was a bit small for 2. Now I will ride solo, missus Biker has quit, so I get all the bhp to myself. Coooooolllllllll !

Best riders? scooter riders ? nah , sorry but the reason you see so many is they are to young to have a car or cant be arsed to by one , and handling a moped in rough weather is POP you only have to twist the throttle

Well,

Not meaning to bragg but I rode through the snow blizzard on Wednesday. Luckily I only ride a GN 125 so no fear of spinning the back wheel!!!

Scooters do my head in. Especially when they try to race every other vehicle on the road with 2 wheels. Get a real bike (at least mine has gears!!) and come back when you've gone through puberty. By that time I'll have an MV Augusta (I wish!). )

well I love to race anyone who is up for it. Lots of folk get very upset when they get overtaken and left behind by a suited fella on a Gilera Runner. it seems that they assume that because they have more CC that should mean they are the quicker rider. My arse to that! Knowing the roads and the way traffic flows is far more important...

It's like all things, some are good and some are bad at riding. The scooters that stick in my mind are those that are inconsiderate, in the same way cars that won't move over are inconsiderate. Being a fast rider is no indication in itself to me of whether you're a good rider. I'll leave that judgement to others more capable than I to make. I would say though that it may simply mean you're ignoring or missing hazards that others are picking up on.

Steve.

Well, I've stayed alive on mbikes for 20+yrs so I can't be too bad ;-p

I'm very aware of hazards, it's hard not to be with experience, and in mine scoterists are just another mobile roadblock to be negotiated....unless they have a pizza tray on the back natch, all hail the pizza dude
