Scooters Vs Bikes...
Discussion
Well I have been riding bikes and scooters for twenty years including 5 years as a courier. I have recently bought a Gilera four stroke runner and can't belive the aggro I seem to attract from bike riders.
Why do people assume that as they have more CC than I they should get from a to b quicker? It seems to enrage them when I use my knowledge of the roads and traffic light timings to get past them.
They also seem to make the mistake that as they are on a big bike and I am on a scooter that this means they are stronger/better at fighting etc. Even when they are a fat shortarse and I am 6 foot six in my socks and used to box a bit. As a Gentleman (IE a parent now) I don't put my hands up in the face of provocation but it does dismay me for sure.
I tend to think all two wheelers are good. I would sooner ride a Honda Cub than get the tube but am getting pissed off with all this attitude....

Well what do you expect if you ride a scooter!
Only joking, i thought the attidude was changing over scooters. I still think there be a divide as you used to be able to ride a scooter on a P plate and need a proper licence for 'bikes' not sure how it works now though?
I guess your in london, where the whole lot is a different game, nod at another biker and risk getting done over!

I'd put this down to being treated badly as a result of the bad actions of other scooter riders. Let's be honest, the bad motorists you see on the roads are the ones you remember and have an affect on how you perceive that group of vehicles as a whole. I pass hundreds of cars everyday and I'm sure their perception of me is probably coloured by the biker who took their mirror off, or their friends mirror off or whatever. Similarly my impression of them is coloured by the stupid ones I remember who lane change without signaling or thinking. Since there will always be this x% of bad motorists that you remember, unfortunately, you're stuck with the image I fear.

Maybe it is a London thing, and yes given that scooters are the new mopeds I am sure many scooter riders have pissed off other road users big time.
I do see many stupid scooter riders, mainly teenagers for sure, but I tend to judge people on their merits rather than by stereotypes....
I have found that getting from a to b through London is quicker on the scoooter than the Pan European used to ride!

One thing that does really P me off is when I am on my ZZR at the front of a queue at a set of traffic lights and some numpty on a scooter comes filtering up the inside and then paddles across in front of me. This happens all the time in London .
I got my own back once by grabbing the numpty's ignition key and chucking it under a parked car - this was very childish but felt so good!!!

there's some guy on a scooter who wheelies it all the way across London Bridge, very amusing, certainly changed my view towards scooters :-)
There is some guy in Guildford who rides a monkey bike on the back wheel for ever (well the whole time he is in view) this is a hilarious sight & gets my vote for top entertainment when stuck in traffic! Just to top it off he wears an open face lid & Dick Van Dyke style flying goggles!
Personal opinion on the scooter thing.... don't give a flying *&^% what anyone rides -

I got caught up in some kind of Monkey Bike convoy the other day, waiting to join a ruondabout and this never ending stream of them kept going by. Very surreal, but made me smile

maybe you should stop further ahead so they can't do that...? only having a chuckle mate, it is annoying. But can be avoided by positioning. We regulary went way beyond the line to be away from the stationary traffic. Anyway, much as we consider cars as obstruction, maybe the scooter rider thinks bulky bikes are similar???? just a diff perspective. Keep it shiney side up!
