Couple of observations, number one i was quite shocked how early they let some of the learners out on the road that have just been going around cones in up to second gear?I'd been on bikes before and i didn't really feel that daunted by going out on the road but one guy had barely mastered changing gear and he was out?He actually asked me before going out ,do we just use the two gears?the other learner i went out with on the road was 67 years old,he was in front, then the instructor behind me.We were told to turn left, guy in front of me turns this tight left hander,im a bit behind him giving him plenty of space,i get around this corner and this guy for some reason had started to u turn in the road?I just about t-boned him, handy thing that emergency stop:-)Overall i thought the instructors were great, especially the one that cocked up and stalled demonstrating the figure of eight in the yard on my bike(i told him my clutch was dodgy all day but he never listened)that lightened up the whole day and relaxed us all.Direct access in a weeks time.sure that GSX1000 in the nearby bike store winked at me every time i passed, what a machine!

well done! I too was amazed by how early some people (myself included) were let out into the road on the cbt.

Best of luck for the test.

well done! it is daunting that CBT really, but you'll look back in 2 years....

and still think it was mad!

best of luck for next week.
NB dont do what everyone else seems to do, buy a bike before your test! until you have tested a few, you wont know what you like. its suprising how different, similar looking bikes, actually feel.

I agree although there was a woman when I did mine that was on her 6th CBT and they had never allowed her out on to the road before as they considered her too dangerous.

I wonder if she had a car licence already. I think people should be made to take a bike CBT before being allowed out in a car. It may give them more road sense or at least a better idea of road positioning etc...

By the way, well played Rumpel.

well done. My girlfriend .. been driving for 9 years, did her CBT and refused to go on the road as she didnt have the confidence in herself. her instructor said she would be fine

ditto for my wife, did the CBT ok, but never fancied going out on the road again.

Think that's fair enough, confidence has a massive impact on your riding. My first day on a 500 was not good and I nearly quit there and then, but I'm glad kept going with it. Confidence seems to go in waves for me and I now worry about being over confident and stuffing either me or the bike as a result. Good on yer Rumple and stick at it, it is worth it.

well done! take it easy out there

On my CBT there was a woman in tears who gave up and when on my lessons one just got off her bike and left

I can understand this cos i was really finding it difficult myself after never being on a bike b4.
But i'm glad i stuck with it cos i would never have had the chance to go as fast as I can now

Yay bikes are great

On the 3rd day of my DAS, years ago, I managed to wrangle 105 out of the poor ER5. Way too much speed for someone so inexperienced, but it opened my eyes to higher performance than I had previously had access to and I was hooked.
