Picked up my new RSV Mille (2003) from the dealer yesterday. What a great bike

Anyone know any good riding roads just east of london? I need to run it in....

Top bike, congrats! Can't help with the roads I'm afraid.

Top bike!

Try the A and B roads heading towards Cambridge - not the dual carriageways.

Cheers - I'll give them a try. Just left the office for lunch and managed to put 50 more miles on it. Only another 500 to go....

God I love that bike.

I managed to get 104mph out of mine while running in, 6th gear holding it right on the 6k limit. PITA trying to overtake anything though.

Have fun, what colour btw?

My favourite Ride-Drive route- awesome in a TVR or on a bike:

M25 j28, follow B1023-Brentwood
1st left- Pilgrim's Hatch
A128-Chipping Ongar
B184-Leaden Roding
Left cont B184-Great Dunmow
B1057-Finchingfield
Left over bridge
1st left cont B1057- Steeple Bumpstead
cont B1057-Haverhill
A143 towards Bury St. Edmunds
Left B1061 to Newmarket
Follow A142 "Ely"
Left A1123 Stretham
Continue past Hoddenham
Left B1050- Oakington

Return:

M11 south to Jct 11
Right @ Jct 11
Left 1st lights B1368
At A505 right,immediate Left
cont B1368
to A10
Left towards London

Find your own way home !

Approx.150 mile circuit, lovely roads, few Gatsos. Dont try Finchingfield on aturdays, as heavily policed as Box Hill

Enjoy, let me know wadyafink

mikeyh, did you go for a standard 2003 RSV in the end? I thought you were chosing between a 2004 RSVR and a 2003 RSV-R?

I ended up going for a standard 2003 RSV in silver/grey. The dealer gave me a great deal (less than £7k) and I figured that with my riding skills the extra £2k for the R would be wasted . The additional £600 a year insurance would have hurt too.

I'm loving it so far, managed to get 102 out of it at 6000rpm (on a circuit of course officer). All I need now is to get a proper can to enjoy the full v-twin effect...

Thanks for the route todiddly, hopefully try it out next weekend.

mikey, pab @ rsvr.net is doing the arrow / Aprilia badged ti can + chip for £350 ex. VAT, it'll smooth out the hole (that you've yet to find) a bit below 6K, and sounds great although the neighbours might think different

Also I'm assuming you bike is still restricted to 100bhp, and will be getting derestricted at the 600 mile service.

To fully cure the hole @ 5-6k you'll need a full akra or harris system

M8 of mine has got an RSV-R with an Akrapovic can, when he was buying it he was warned off the Arrow can 'cos they apparently fall apart a bit too easily.

I got it so cheap as it was the last '03 model the dealer had. I don't think there's much of a discount on the new model . No pics yet but hoping to take some tonight, I'll post them tomorrow if I get the chance.

Thanks for the tip on the end can, I will get me one after it's run in. Any idea what effect it has on the warranty?

The dealer deristricted the bike as part of the PDI, they put a 16 tooth sprocket on as well (London traffic...)

None if it's not on the bike if it goes in for warranty work

Aha - such a simple solution. Why didn't I think of that!

It's an Aprilia can + chip for the fuelling so your warranty is retained.

Mine has been in for warranty work with the can fitted and the dealer didn't even mention it.

That seems like a good result - is there any noticable increase in power or does it just smooth out the delivery? More importantly, how does it sound ??!!

It smooths out the dip below 6k a bit, and is louder with a deeper tone.
