The SV needs a new front and rear now. So where do you folks go for your tyres and what would you recommend for weekly commuting and some entertainment on the weekend. I'd rather have a tyre that inspires confidence, particularly in the wet, than one lasts forever. I'm currently looking at BT010s.

Thanks for your help,

Steve.

Dunno where you live steve, i'm in Guildford and i have used Micheldever tyres in....Micheldever nr Winchester (good ride out). Very good service have most in stock and do while you wait fitting. I've just had BT 12s fitted (done aprox 600 miles) and so far are good, they get up to heat quite quickly, stable and are good on track days, although not super sticky. Milage wise couldn't tell you, but i for one would comprimise milage for grip. I made that mistake once before and high sided .
Good luck.

Good call AJ. Helpful guy on the phone and a good price too. Settled on 010s for the grip over the extra life of the 020s.

Just to be different I went for 020's on my SV a couple of weeks back.
I ride all year and I want safe wet weather grip, plus most of my mileage is boring M'way so the 020's are more suited I think.
This difference over the standard Metz's is quite shocking, the bike feels much better and more confident but that could also be 'coz my old tyres were squarer than a very square thing.
I got em from Whatling tyres in Redhill but they only fit to loose wheels.

Picked up 020s too for £176. Micheldever were a bargain compared to anywhere else (closest was £25 more and wouldn't price match) and very nice chaps to deal with - helpful and lots of good advice. What a difference too - bike very stable even as I scrub the tyres in and can really feel her gripping the tarmac now, immediate improvement to my confidence. Nice!

Glad you got a good deal steve, why two sets of tyres? Two sets of wheels?

For all those with SV's or 400's, next year I'll be selling cheap my part worn tyres used in racing. They'll only have done 4 races and there'll be plenty of tread left on them. The best of the grip will have gone, but they'll still be good for 55second laps at Brands Indy.
