Hi,thinking of sitting the bike test,im in Fife in Scotland near the Cupar training centre. They're offering CBT for £75,a short course for £299 and full course for £399,would the short course get me through?I was just wondering what's the cheapest way of going through this from scratch,i have no bike etc at the moment but i want to go through all this and be able to ride say a 500cc bike at the end of it all. What about helmets etc are they supplied, bike hire etc,is that included?Anyone know ther cheapest way to go through all this from start to finish or anyone that's been through the test lately, any bits i will find difficult or should prepare more for?I've ridden bikes before so the physical riding of any machine doesn't concern me too much,i just need a little guidance, any help appreciated,ta!

How confident do you feel on a bike? if its from scratch and havent ridden before it would be well worthwhile spending the extra £100 , also bike training is good fun

Cheapest way would be an intensive course. If you can ride then the usual stumbling block of u-turns and basic machine control won't be your problem, just a matter of getting you to test standard. So you may get away with the shorter course. However, if you can afford the extra ton, I'd do it, as it would improve the odds of a first time pass. You can usually hire the bike and some kit from the training centre you use. I hired the bike. If you really are as serious as you sound about getting out on the roads, you might find the training more comfortable in your own kit. There's definitely no substitute for a decent lid.
