Only ever been once, but it was fascinating to see those old bikes - and some not so old. £8m loss apparently, but mostly irreplaceable I'd have thought. Sad indeed.

This is utterly devastating news. One of my Dad's old Trimuph racers was there, but as yet we don't know whether it was destroyed in the blaze or not. As someone posted on another thread, it's unbeliavable that so many works of art could be so poorly protected against such a likely risk as fire.

Young people growing up today only know of the British motorcycle industry that has gone before them (bar Triumph and CCM), now they cannot even view those pieces of automotive history.

Gone forever.

Very sad news, Loved seeing those old bikes at the Manx GP and at the motorbike museum on the IOM. Wsa going to go and see them at Birmingham. The director has said they will rebuild bikes (I'm sure this is going to take years though) Terrible shame.

Word has it that a member of staff might have chucked a fag end amongst some cardboard boxes stashed outside. What's the odds on smokers and cardboard being kept fifty yards away in future!
