Returning to biking after 12 years!
Discussion
The TVR's up for sale and it looks as though I'll be returning to biking after 12 years, (previously had a ZX-10, amongst others).
After years in the wardrobe, my leathers have obviously shrunk , and I'm sure helmet design has come on a long way in that time, so I'm looking for recommendations for a bike shop in the south east, that has a wide variety of leathers & helmets in stock, as I want to get everything from one place if possible, (and obviously at a good price).
Cheers.
By the way, it looks as though the new bike will be an XJR1300, (not quite decided on new or late used), as the insurance prices seem pretty reasonable and I want something fast but comfortable for reletively short weekend blasts. Any comments on the bike also appreciated.

Go for it mate!!! I returned after a ten year gap after a nasty accident and sold the M3EVO for my Duke. Never looked back really. The car was superb but just didnt have that 'je ne sais quoi' that the bike has.
P&H Motorcycles in Crawley have a great selection of bikes (Italian and Jap) and have a fine collection of Dainese leathers of which they stock some sale items.
Have fun and remember 'Shiny side up'!

What? You're not going to have a TVR anymore?

Will you be back again some day?
I'm afraid it had to go!
As I don't generally do more than 50 miles per week in it, I couldn't really justify keeping it. However, I still needed something to play with at weekends, after trundling round in the Discovery all week.
I'm off to collect the XJR1300 tomorrow morning - can't wait.
By the way Steven, reg no. TVR 258 would look great on the Tuscan if you're interested???

What sort of price did you have in mind Rob?
In a moment of madness, I paid £4500 for it 18 months ago, but I guess I'd let it go for £3500, (possibly a bit less), as it wouldn't look quite right on the XJR .

Think back to the FJ1200. Add a big bore, a stubbier chassis and better suspension. Throw away the fairing and remove lardy parts. Voila! Not my cup of Darjeeling, but a really torquey allrounder that has greater sporting ability than it has any right to. Enjoy.
PS - lots of trick tuning kit available for the motor and the chassis as a result of a Japanese single make race series. Seriously tuneable...
