Pesty its dead easy mate, i used to race with bemsee type that in your search engine and you get their site. You have to apply for a licence from the ACU, i seem to remember it was about £50 roughly the same for the club licence too.

You now have to go to a track school before you can start. Bennyboy has just done his at Malory. When i did it you didnt have to do that.

Costs, dont even go there, when i started i raced 250LCs, great fun and cheap ish. A full season would cost around £3/4000. MZ racing is a little cheap i think the bigger you get the more it costs!

Advice.....you know you want to.... i will proberly end up racing next yr too, in the mini twins class me thinks.

Depends what sort of racing but as AJ says you can't go much wrong with BEMSEE|www.bemsee.co.uk they run two good novice class in the rookie 400's and 600's (and their classifieds is a good source of machinery).

Its not un heard of for good riders to clean up and win championships in these classes with standard road bikes just with race plastic bolted on. However as in all things you will find some have bigger budgets than others. Also do not be at all suprised if you go from being "the quickest person you know" to "just another runner" there are some very gifted people start their careers in here. An example being that 4 years ago Monster Mob were the Bemsee paddock gobshites with more money than sense and 6 years ago Shane Byrne was wearing an orange bib and racing rookie 600's, thats before he got caught cheating in the powerbikes but thats another story

Another alternative is KRC|www.krcendurance.co.uk the endurance ciruit also has rookie classes and is a slightly less all consuming every weekend championship with it all being focused into 6 very hardwork weekends, but you will need a couple of mates who also want to go racing.

He he he he he he . I know i know what shall i do? I was only this morning thinking mmmmmm ducati and within seconds thinking mmmmmm sv650 in minitwins. I think the racing has the edge at the moment. I can always have a ducati 'when' i tire of racing (or when i finally realise i'm sh*te!!).

I echo what mel said about thinking your fast too time for a rethink! Everone out there is trying to prove the same point, all focused, all wanting that 1st. I agree there are differences in budget, although there are some 'all show and no go' types too.

Go on you know you want too (i know i do!)

That quick rider point thing..... Currently, the very best minitwins (SV650s) are lapping Brands indy in under 52 seconds. That's proper quick.

I like to think I'm pretty quick at the moment too - nothing coming past on track days in the quick group, but I know I'm only gonna be mid-field when I do my first race on 20th September. It'll be a laugh though.

Another useful address is the ACU website at www.motorcyclinggb.co.uk

Cheers,
