test ride on a 749s saturday....
Discussion
Absolutely love em! Hated them when they first came out & then a couple of weeks ago I saw a guy with one at the petrol station. He had had a 748R nicked & replaced it with a 749S. The guy seemed to love it & raved about it for ages. I noticed that it seemed much more comfortable than the 748/996.
How much is the S/H one up for?

Sorry Dennis bucket in the post! Yep it is the same as the 999. To be honest i wasn't sure when they first came out too but they have grown on me. This one is up for £7500 has 2500 miles on the clock and is yellow (to me the only colour for 748/749s). I recon if i buy this time of yr i should start the haggling at £6500! It does look the dogs bo**ocks. I will have to wait and see what i think of the ride.
This however does put me in for a difficult decision because i had thought of buying a trials bike (i have one lined up) for the winter, then bennyboy is racing an sv650 which got got me thinking about racing again (poss know where theres a sv650 race preped)! Jeez which way chaps? Finances wont permit all. MAybe start doing the same hours as Dennis!

Sorry old chap in my effort to save for this 749 i didnt get the extra 'tracker'option, so the post office dont know where it is. I blame the government, what do they know.....
Know what you mean with the hours, used to do long hours myself, still do occasionally. Not good, have a beer for me old chap, in fact i'll have one for myself!
Nutcase,
Do you know anywhere that has a demo 636? Not really keen on Portman in Guildford and not sure of anyother Kawaker dealers?

[quote]and on the eighth day he rested, and placed an order for a YELLOW 748S. Lo, on the ninth day it arrived in RED besides the sea of its namesake. The Lord did cry out to creation YELLOW for 748/749's like thee Judas Casoli and that of Pontius Fogarty all 916/996/998/999 shall be that of the mistaken colour that mine hath arrive.[unquote]

AJ, Nice one mate, enjoy it. Sorry I have not been around in the recent, my 'lil sis has moved back from Germany and is staying with us (with her GSXR600!), we are going to Goodwood Revival tomorrow so I cant make the Stir Crazy rideout. The bike has not been ridden since the Mucky Duck the other week!! 'Maria' the YELLOW Italian whore gets a little moody if she does not get ridden regular, what with all my problems getting it up and all!! Still no wheelies!!

Fantastic!! pmsl
Test ride complete.
First impressions as sat on bike.....sounds like my lawnmower? Got going, man in shop said take it out for 30 / 40 mins........1 hr 20 later in i roll. What a bike, i just didnt want to come in. The steering was amazing, sharp, responsive it pulled so well from any gear, it followed my lines easily oooooh. It attracted a porche to try it on and a 320 kompressor, eeeaaaasy (well not really it took a bit of work but hey i was on ).
Down side jeez my wrists ached after 40 mins, Although one has been smashed and pined and the screen, p155 poor no wind protection at all.
Now where do i go from here...another test ride of some thing else me thinks.....zx636 maybe, cbr600rr. One thing the duc had was sex appeal, it was fantastic but very focused.
I have to say when buying a bike apart from which bike and the money, the service will either do the deal or not for me and with out fault this dealer in alton was brilliant. Very pleasent even paid for the fuel that i had to put in. Top lot.
