Chatting to a friend who works in the technical division of Kawasaki UK last night, he explained that the ZX10R will be the first bike to have a 1:1 power/weight ratio (ie it will produce 170bhp and will weigh 170kgs). Methinks it's going to be a bit rapid!

MCN are reporting that the replacement for the current fireblade is going to weigh in at 165kg with 160bhp.

As an aside, and kind of related to the discussion about cages in general gassing, I've got a horrible feeling that the first poor sod to wipe themselves out on a stock bike with 1000bhp/tonne will have the police (i.e. the ct in charge in N. Wales) and the speed kills lobby demanding that they're banned from the roads.

My local Kawasaki dealer (who also used to be a sponsor and a former LeMans racer) has promised to phone me whenever he gets any confirmed info on the ZX10R, I'm looking at ordering one of the first few to arrive for the road. I expect more info to be avaliable mid sept i.e after the Millan Show, and the first road versions arriving around christmas time. Oh yes and Hawk Kawasaki apparently got theirs this week to start development work on.

Does anyone know if it's true that aprilia are going to release a 600 next year, or if foggy petronas are releasing a road FP1?

Has anyone seen the 1300CC EST 170bhp Triumph in MCN?

Saw the front of MCN with 200mph Triumph headline on it in Tescos tonight. Certainly looked like it meant business! Will see if I can get a more detailed gander at MCN tomorrow.

Badapple, yep saw the trumpet, i have to say i'm not usually a big bike fan but the MCN image looks the bo**ocks. Gotta hand it to them with the Daytona 600 looks like triumph is going from strength to strength. I guess now it looks like we're going to get some good products? will consumer interest will go up? Is this the brit bike come back??

I kinda liked the look of the 'new' Norton Commando (OMG did I just say that!!! )

Thing is the Commando was the first bike back ahem......a few years ago that got me thinking 2 wheels WITH an engine might be a good idea
