Guarenteed to annoy me - on Sunday, why did 2 bikes insist on doing around 65mph, holding me up on a good fast road? and almost refuse to get out of my way? surely some mistake here. Bikes are meant to be thrashed, not ridden gently!!! I nearly wanted to stop them so I could give them some advice on how to overtake.... and that was when I was in the car!!

It's Sunday, maybe they're enjoying their right to take a relaxing trip through the scenery and why are you in such a hurry anyway? 65 mph is a perfectly acceptable speed on a non motorway road. Chill out bro.

So long as they were both on the back wheel at the time. That's what counts.

Jeez Chill out hertsbiker, i thought i was impatient! It takes all sorts, not everyone has to be flat out all the time . You've obviously got the dog as you're bikeless at the moment!!

Benny

Was that you and nutcase i passed going the other way last night on the A246, on the bend by Hatchlands about 7.30pm ish? I caught a glimpse of what looked like your leathers? I was going, as you seemed to be, a little to fast to take my eyes off the road ahead! I love that bend only trouble is if you crest the hill torwards Guildford and find a slow car!!

Sorry but I'm guilty of this.

I'm new to biking and 60 -65 seems fast enough on a Funduro for the present and I'm worse on corners

It takes a while for some of us to get the confidence -perhaps we're all too aware of our own mortality!!!

Use to crew for an ambulance some years ago on the Isle of Man - so you pick up a few bikers at times and it makes you perhaps a little more careful!

Yeah I'm in the slow biker camp too - can't do corners all that well yet but working on it. Happy to let others by if they want to go quicker tho'.

Steve hit-nail-head Hertsbiker is moaning that they didn't get out of the way. Even with my limited exp. I let bikers/faster cars (although they are rarer) that catch up past its not exactly rocket science ie. Enjoy your bike/vehicle at whatever speed don't spoil it for someone else.

OK - My 5p worth.....

sometimes I slow (maybe if dwarf is on the back), sometimes I find the hammer, but mostly I in the middle....the thing is..... always watch yer mirrors & if someone is tanking up behind then let em pass.

Especially if they wanna go past on the back wheel.... eh Ben

Mate every road is not labeled castle combe silverstone etc , 65-70 is a pretty good pace , Sometimes i dawdle along , just cos ive got a bike doesnt mean i have to go 280mph everywhere

Anyway you will be back to moaning about poxy sports cars getting in the way when you get your next bike

AJ,

Yep, I think it was. I thought it was you too, but wasn't sure. Nutcase and myself were getting in a little wheelie practice. It was going well too. Up in 2nd at around 75 and then get 3rd to cruise. However, managed a full on stand up jobbie in 2nd the other day plus a mungo 128 in 3rd beauty too. Wahey

Surely any biker or reasonable car driver will let other traffic overtake when there's faster traffic coming up behind.

What's the point in holding up anyone faster than you?

Observation...

Perhaps they were so laid back & chilled out 'pottering' along & taking in the scenery that they completely forgot to look behind them?

Blimey. What is the world coming to. "65-70 is a pretty good pace" - not. I remember the days ...

Example - coast road Saltburn to Whitby. If you couldn't average 80mph+ you weren't trying, there are few bends there that are sub-80 bends. And of course many bits where much more is possible!

I can't see how any vehicle could get "in your way" on a bike, short of deliberate blocking manoevres.

Just how much have attitudes changed in the last 20 years? Has the "speed kills" message sunk in that deep?

Denny old bean, I am a bit shocked at your bailing out of the going-mental-everywhere club !!

The reason I quite bikes was 'cos I hardly ever did less than the magic ton. Now I have been hampered with 4 wheels, I find 80 to be a goodly speed... and to be held up by two Dainese wearing pimps does not impress. Sorry you guys who want to "cruise"... get a cruiser bike, you might like it!!!! personally I didn't get on with it, I like a thrashing bike instead.

Don't go all soft & middle aged on me, you bikers! I need inspiration of 100mph wheelies, and daring-do. In sensible places obviously, and never round town.

Sheesh. Maybe I do have a speed addiction.
