Don't know about duties on bikes, I used to sell US made industrial machinery and was IIRC about 5%.(+VAT)

Go on...you know it makes sense!

P.S. If you get it, can I have a go Mr?

"Transmission: Two-speed automatic or manual"

So that'd be "Fast" and "Oh My God!"
I bet you'd have to change your rear tyre after every ride-out!

5% plus VAT.....

Hmmm.....

Bit faster than the R1150GS.....
Bit faster than the Eliminator as well...

OK, I talked me into it. SO!

Plan of action:

1. Email the man - can do
2. Check the bank - should be OK
3. Arrange the trip - no probs
4. Convince Karen (bless the ground she walks on) - snag.

Give me a couple of weeks - seems like the perfect wedding anniversary present!

Progress report.

Customs have been unhelpful. They find it hard to give me a classification (sets the duty level) because
(a) its a motorcycle;
(b) but the fuel is not petrol its diesel (fuel affects the classification? seems so); and
(c) the engins is a jet turbine (I thought that was the point)

So I have gone to one of the consulting firms and asked them to sort out the classification number for me.

Now. If anyone can suggest an insurance company that might be sympathetic to me??

Progress report 2

For a (not) small fee, the answer is:

Driven by the good and the engine type. Motorcycles that do not run on an internal combustion engine (i.e. petrol, apparantly) are classified

code 871190000-00
Motorcycles - other

Duty rate is 6% of the CIF price (which means the cost of the bike, shipping to the UK and any insurance for transit).

Then ad 17.5% VAT to the CIF plus duty price.

Now - DVLA and Insurance.....
