Hi
As it was a bank holiday weekend I like millions of others went away (camping) with the family & friends.

Had a great time? riding around 40, 30 & 20 mph conjested narrow hilly Devon roads, & long grassed hilly fields to tent(not wot the RSV is meant to do).

As I was carrying a pillion the oxford paniers had to be pushed right to the back (no luggage carriers).
Half way home the car behind was flashing its lights. So after some debaiting about the meaning I pulled over to discover my clothes on fire!

The bag had moved onto the exhaust.

After going through france with expanded "oxford sports" panniers I can highly reccommend them. All equipment for camping fits inside, dont bother with cooking utensils unless on a realy tight budget.

Tent and sleeping bag can be bungeed to the top of panniers, and they can be removed in 30 seconds after practice, I would reccommend some anti slip matting, to aviod scrathing bodywork.

I was ok up to 150 mph, on the german autobahn obviasly and the panniers didnt fall off. They also have a heat resistant pad on the bottom of the panniers, and are on special offer for about £85 in mcn somewhere last week.

A map bag or SMALL tank bag with map holder is also usefull.

I went with a mate and always parked in as safe a place as possible top avoid thiefs, and had no trouble, even in some rough looking places in france.
Just put 2-3 locking devices on your steed and park in plain view,if you are worried about someone pinching it... whats insurance for, its there to ride if having it pinched worries you that much dont go.

Not a fire experiance but a rear pack experiance. A mate of mine when over to the 24hr at Bol ?? (sp?) at 150mph the rear bag slid off the back seat and jammed between his rear tyre and the seat unit Thereith started the biggest tyre mark which he managed to keep untill enought speed had been scrubbed off and the bike and rider went their seperate ways. New tyre, lever and couple of other bits and hes was on his way (a tad slower too i believe!).

What's that?

Have someone drive ahead with your luggage & book into a 5* hotel - in fact get them to run you a nice hot bath too, for when you arrive - it's the only way to travel.

No ruffing it for you then, a five satar hotel, is that a 4 man tent, with a porch for your kit!!!!!
