Isn't it wierd how a good thrash on the bike can put all those problems behind you.

Collected the Mille from the dealer this morning after last weeks little electrical mishap[1].

And come lunchtime I thought buggar this, and what a glorious afternoon it was to take off[2] for a blat around the highlands[3].

From Knockhill to Loch Earnhead[4], around to CrainLarich, on to Oban, from their down to Loch Gilphead and on to Inveraray, finally south around Loch Lomond and home.

After about 20 minutes I was just so at one with the bike, observation, corners, overtaking, everything just clicked.

Now I'm absolutly f**ked, and must have sweated loads to turn the 1-piece into a giant chamois... and am currently rehydrating with the aid of some czech yeast products

I was a good boy, well the trip computer shows a v-max less than 150mph and managed to remove the chicken strips, as well as some of those fork symbols from the new tyres.

Thanks to all the bikers who flashed and made general slow down motions around Tarbet, dunno what was going on but most of Strathclyde traffic division was there[5].

Big twins are just brill

Nigel

[1] The start solenoid fried, 10 days sans bike in this weather was worse than 12 months without sex.
[2] Well the boss was on the golf course
[3] With all those bugs aren't tear-offs great?
[4] to the owner of the light green Tamora if he's here
[5] Was that awkward or what pulling the clutch in, in an attempt to keep the noise down while passing half a dozen pans parked up in a layby.

Only 105db denny

The young lady is rather easy on the eye, a smile wouldn't go amiss though.

re: this afternoon, I think I converted a few more to the dark side, as I pulled out of the petrol station in Balloch about 20 teenagers in Celtic strips hanging over some bridge all turned around, all wide eyed, lusting after the mille as it rumbled past

Great T- Shirt Dennis, where did you get it?

Life with out a bike just seems empty. I ride mine when ever i can.

Did a similar thing a couple of weeks ago 954 girlie although didnt swim. Started by i'll go and get a burger at Boxhill (is it me or do they taste sh*t?) then thought i'll just go down here a bit, ended up in Worthing!

Hello everybody.

Newbie here, but can I just say, despite now having a ZRX1100, I think that the best bike engine is a vee twin, and every car should have a V8?

Is that controversial enough to start with?

Oh yes, I agree about the young lady, too.

ummm. Well I test rode a SV650 & a Z1000 at the weekend. Neither is tempting me back onto bikes just not enough lowdown torque with the Z1000, and not enough speed on the 650.

So it looks like SV1000 next year then - I haven't forgotten how to ride either, but the buzz has gone a bit, so will need a Vee-twin to bring it back! to be honest, the Z1000 was comfy but dull, the SV nice but ran out too fast!

Keep it shiney side up

I generally work on the formula that the ideal number of cylinders = 2 x Number of wheels

954, I was reading this months TWO on W. Wittering beach on Sat afternoon and read of a Capt. Texino who got the Star Letter. Is that the same Tex as the chap who posts on your 748 forum??? Same twisted english format etc.

Got the bike our again today to go to work. Wasn't really happy with it before but it had the lowered seat on for a 5 ft 2 in woman previous and I'm 5 ft 10 in. It also had the screen for shorties fitted (allegedly).

Anyway, have just put the standard seat back on and taken off the screen.

What a difference to the bike. I'm more comfie and the bike seems happier too!

I'm new to biking and really wish I'd done it years ago. Also everyone (well almost everyone) seems more friendly and you spend time talking to all sorts of people that you wouldn't normally - even commoners!

Isn't biking brilliant?

Yep - this is the very same Captain B Texino.
The man is a genius - Although, I am suprised Bertie has printed this particular letter rather than some of his classic posts!!
I have been in touch with Bert regarding this & suggested Tex should be given a column - he would have a cult following!! What Tex is going to do with a collection of Tamiya models god knows!!! lol
P.S. There are hardly any members left with Dukes on the Crew now!!

Edited to add - the crash that Wozza describes in the SV test was class!! "the tyres were too rubbery" was his excuse!! lol

We should invite him over from the good ol US of A for a summer vacation next year for him to enjoy some of the twistier roads and wax lyrical of his Navy experiences, and fishing.

I had to stop posting on the Duke crew as I could never seem to get my posts thru via email. The update time whilst on line was costing me valuable work time (????) as well so I just hang around here for the usual suspects. PS Were you once a member of the Duke Sporting Club as 748B (itch)?? I am thinking of joining and saw some write ups of the Newlands Corner rideouts with some mention of this. Any good?
