AAAAARRRRGG, just crashed my bike
Discussion
They say it happens to us all at some point.
But to most of us not just three weeks after getting their first bike.
Today I was riding between Tyndrum and Oban (A85) and I entered a corner and didn't exit it.
I drifted off the road cos I couldn't keep my line (my fault) and made the near fatal mistake of looking at the verge I was trying desperatly to avoid.
I'm lucky I'm still here. I was thrown off the bike and bounced along the ground. Thanks to my leathers and my helmet I'm totally fine not a scratch on me.
The bike, however, is a total mess.
The rear subframe is bent
All the plastics (bar two panels) are destroyed.
the radiator is empty, I don't know why but I fear the worst.
And I'm sure thats not the end of the damage report, I just haven't stripped it down yet.
Also the engine won't go but thats cos it spend 5 minutes upside down in the ditch and the engine is flooded.
A massive thank you to the two guys on the Bandit that stopped and to the guy in the Jag who lent me his phone as mine had no signal.
Cheers.
I don't know if the bike is a write off yet.
The insurance is only TPF&T so I won't be claiming.
Still feeling a bit woozy but lucky to be here.

Andy you might have holed the rad or a hose causing the water loss , the engine should be fine , and the subframe should be bolted on so easy to replace , plastic's can be bought from skidmarxs in Weymouth quite cheaply.
Have a look at the bike and if you think it can be fixed up give me a shout via e mail and i will get a price on the plastics for you

And was you riding sensibly or was you riding like a f**king lunatic ? (Can you see where I'm going with this...)
Wasn't exactly being mister sensible at that point but in all fairness there was far worse lunacy being carried out by other folk on the same road but they've got more skill than me.
I also found parts of what looked like a BMW fairing panel and parts of a car so it doesn't look like I'm the first one to come off at that particular bend.

Take a couple of days to calm down before you decide to break it.
subframes (& frames) can be straightened - the biggest expense will likely be the bodywork but I'm sure you'll be able to source some if you're patient. Plastics can be repaired if they're not in a million bits or there's the option of pattern fibreglass stuff at a fraction of the cost of genuine bits.
BAT in Biggin Hill & Box Hill Motorcycles are 2 dealers that spring to mind as 400 specialists, might be worth getting their advice at least.
Hope it works out ok.

Doh, daft mistake but as long as you walked away from it.
If the panels aren't completely trashed, i.e. you picked up all the bits, then you probably want to speak to:
Bike Paints
Drum Rd
Cupar Fife
KY15 5RJ
Tel: 01334 652971
They did an excellent job of the CBR when I did a spot of tarmac surfing.

Cheers everyone.
Hopefully it'll be just plastics. From what I can tell it'll be about 800 quid for genuine plastics and other assorted bits. The only problem is thats not including the rear subframe and radiator.
And I still haven't done the strip down, thats this mornings job.
We'll see.
