Is it just me or has anyone else noticed an increase in Diesel slicks, if so why? More trucks, more diesel cars, more numptys.

Why don’t trucks need leakproof caps on fuel tanks like bikes have?

I mean truckers complain about the price of the stuff and then chuck it all over the road

Got caught on one of these through Aldershot military area once on my mates R1. Lowsided it at 5mph on the roundabout opposite the lorry depot. Minimal damage to bike and me, my mate was fine about it, but springs to mind that it could have been a hell of a lot worse if a greater speed/lean angle had occured. Wasnt there a big government backed petition a couple of years ago to try and prevent diesel spills on the road. BMF maybe??

I go down a road to work thats always full of trucks! you can actualy smell the diesel in the air as you approach the roundabouts!

Nothing short of a national disgrace they talk about safety but how many bikers are killed or injured every year because of a stupidly simple thing like this.

I cant start my bike with the side stand down how hard would it be to fit an interlock switch on a trucks diesel cap? Not hard or expensive

politicians what use are they for exactly?

Politicians? Dont they set examples to the public, such as alcoholism, child pornography, buggery, speeding, etc, etc. Not much use in any other area, bloody hypocrites. You would think that in our day of over-congested roads they would be pushing to make motorcycling a safer and more economical option for the general public. Instead they run campaigns to scare people off those 'Dangerous Machines'!!

it doesn't just affect bikes you know... I've seen cars spin on the stuff, and if you are unlucky enough to hit a kerb broadside in a car, flipping can be a disaster. Even in a car you can snap your neck.

Diesel doesn't seem to come out of my 307, ever. It's these f**king builders with a bit of cling film over the filler that need a kicking, c**ts.

Keep it shiney side up peeps, I'll be back and need your support!

Indeed I skidded in a car on a big slick a few years ago I was very concerned that a biker might crash so I drove to the local Police station to report it.

The desk-plod said they would sort it straight away.

Anyway 3-4 hours later I passed by that roundabout again and guess what - nothing had been done, no clean-up, no signs, bu66er-all in fact.

The next week I got nicked by the same plod for 17mph over the limit and was told that it was part of a 'safety campaign'

Safety - my arse

Not sure if you can get stabilisers for sports bikes

Had the same problem in my transit van traveling from Lulworth to Salisbury. The road had a large band of spilt diesel on it for miles (no i'm not exagerating!) The van was all over the place. I spotted the cause of the spill. An arctic was parked up in a lay-by and the spillage stopped under his vehicle. Phoned the Bobbys and all they could come up with was it might not be him it could be someone else! FFS the spill stopped where he did! doesn't take a brain surgeon to work it out. Good job it p1ssed down that morning and I couldn't be bothered going on the bike or my backside would have been well and truly sore and gravel rashed.

It is worth phoning the law about diesel spills. On 2 occasions I have reported diesel at junctions (having had "moments" trying to stay upright) and the BiB then organised the local council to sand the offending substance.
