Arrgh! Friday evening, great weather, not too hot, decide to don the leathers and cruise down to the local BP in Bagshot to fill up pre Saturday (Coast trip). Pull up, fill up, pay up, walk out, put lid on, CHECK NEUTRAL LIGHT, hit start, bike in gear, its falling, its going, damn wrong side of bike, grab tank, its now pulling me over with it, and its down, me too. Bloody, bloody, bloody! Everybody laugh. I get up to find my dearly beloved (No.2) has a snapped clutch lever, bent gear selector, and scratched mirror, and my pride is severely ripped to shreds. I used Carole Nash Breakdown Recovery to carry me home. Do this affect the No claims bonus situation??

Anyway, Saturday morning trip (with severe hangover) up to Ducati London South to purchase some new bits lightened my wallet of £120. Can anyone recommend a good paintshop to clean up the fairing, it has some tiny scratches on the lower panel.

Bugger. That's a tad embarrassing...

If you didn't really have an accident where you claim (i.e. hundreds/thousands for screwed fairings etc. rather than just a lift home), I don't see how they'd differentiate that from an electrical fault prompting use of their recovery service. Neither costs them other than the fuel and time for the truck.

They'd have to be right tight to let it affect your NCB.

What a bugger, but at least it's only your pride that got severely damaged

Good old, plain old Suzuki, can't start the bike unless the clutch is in, and won't start (or cuts out) if sidestand is down and bike is in gear.

Hmmmm...Triumph has the same system as the Suzuki. It caught me unawares the first time it cut out when putting the sidestand down whilst in gear (last night). Though the thing was buggered. It's a good idea thinking about it though - prevents an expensive moment of carelessness.

I second the pulling the clutch in method. If we are admitting embarising moments i parked up a few years ago at the Chobam roundabout. Having just done the usual knee sliding followed my hooning down the straight thing i neatly parked my new R6 between other bikes, leant the bike over to get off and had forgot to put the stand down. Result domino effect of my bike and one other, thankfully its pilot was a reasonable chap and no damage had been done! More stupidity than faulty neutral but hey were all human. I dare say you wont fall for that dodgy light again as i havn't on side stands.
