Is it expensive?

Does it have to be installed by an authorised dealer to enable you to get the insurance discount or can you do it yourself?

Is it even remotly worth it?

Is it expensive?

No - 50 quid or so IIRC (been a while)

Does it have to be installed by an authorised dealer to enable you to get the insurance discount or can you do it yourself?

No. It's easy to do yourself & is still recognised by the insurance companies

Is it even remotly worth it?

Maybe. For the 5% discount off your insurance it probably pays for itslef over a couple of years. The datatag sticker must act a some sort of a deterent to any tea leaf wanting a bike to brake for spares. If the bike does get nicked & broken for parts at least there's some chance the plod will be able to catch them.

Definetly worth doing.

To insure my bike I had the option of Datatag or alarm.

we all know about bike alarms - cost and anoyance - so no option really.

Cheers for all the advice.

I've told the insurance companies that its datatagged to get quotes.

So when I buy the bike I'll have to make sure that its tagged or buy the kit and do it myself.
