Sat on a sports-tourer Sunday, for the first time in 6 months. Didn't start it. Just looked at it...

Very bad.

I am retired.
I will not buy a bike.
I will not buy a bike this year.
I will get something one day in the future.
Mmmm the leathers are just inside the loft.
The dealer will do me a good discount.
I will not... buy a bike.
I am almost retired.
I'm thinking about it...

Nooooooooooooooooooo! Mr Roberts you have a lot to answer for!

Like George Best & booze, or a moth to a flame.

Just how long did that last? I make myself laugh & cringe simultaneously. Laugh 'cos I can't give up, and cringe 'cos everytime I do this I start so determined to give up, throw loads of money away, and go back to it again.

Why why why why why.

it was Denny's mums bike, if I'd have perched on his ZX6R Ninja I'd have been in real trouble!!

Damn, all those convincing arguments why I should give it up - all evapourated.

Trouble is I *can* afford it, and my fave dealers number is on a postit note stuck to my monitor. We went to visit the guys there last week, and even they were betting I'd be back this year!

Nope I gotta stick it out to next year or Mrs Biker will be very cross!!!!!

But I thought you lot should be the first to know what an eeejit I was ever thinking I could quit.

There ain't no logic to it.

If you ever want to sit on my Speed Triple, just let me know

I'm in a good mood. London bikers will typically ignore you at the lights, not so two blokes on a GPz500 (in jeans and T-shirts )pulled up alongside me twice to compliment me - very nice bike - is it new - nice colour etc.

Took a ZX12R out for a spin on sunday it makes R1's fireblades etc go backwards ultimate power handled very well IMO Didnt help that the rear tyre had only 20psi in it when took it out but a quick trip to the garage and all was well , Carl you SHOULD have sat on andys ZX12 you would be getting a right earbashing from hils about now

I only ask: just *don't* call me a hypocrit when I buy another bike...

Gonna try waiting until next year though - 1 more years NCB will mean I can insure a Blade or ZX9R without too much trouble.

This is becoming a pattern - give up, buy new bike. Costing me a packet in resale values.

Don't worry about Mrs Biker - just remember that us men are always in shit, it's just the depth that varies.

I've done exactly the same with classic cars by changing them every few months, giving up and then starting again and now I've bought a bike too.

Just enjoy what you want to do, you can only be in trouble for so long and then she'll get used to the fact that you've got a habit.

Will she really be that angry?

Re; Mrs Biker

Hertsbiker is it not easier to give up and then get back into Mrs or miss Biker. And have long term relationship with a Bike. I mean at least you can fix your costs with a bike?

nyah.... after meeting DimmaDan for another blap around (all at legal speeds od course...), we were chatting about bikes as you do. He's thinking of joining the fold next year, about the time I will return. So I VERY casually asked Mrs B if she'd go out on the new bike. Oh yes ! so I think GSXR750 next spring for me. Provided I can wait that long.

BTW, If I don't wait, I will be a world of s**t ! so it is worth the wait I can tell you. But this is the nearest I have got to Christmas spirit (eg, Looking forward to something again) in ages.

So I'll stick around here a while, and then I'll be back with a vengance, and exterminating Metro's with the rasp of a rude race can.
