Went out for a blast yesterday morning and came across a well stuffed Honda (I think it was a CBR600) lying on a grass bank on the A41 between Bicester and Aylesbury. Only noticed it because I saw the sun glinting off a part of it as I was approaching - it was quite a long way into the bushes.

Didn't occur to me until later that it may have only just happened and the rider could have been lying in a ditch somewhere. Been worrying about it all night and even thought about going back there to make sure. I'd hate the thought that I could have been the only person to notice and buggered off...

I guess the problem with that is that if he does and there was someone there then he's going to get at least a b0ll0cking and maybe his name in the local media? Might there be a law saying you should stop in the circumstances Malcolm described? Be careful with this one...

You definitely have to stop if you are involved and there is damage, but I'm pretty sure there isn't a law saying you have to stop if you're just driving past. Imagine the chaos on motorways! (OK we have that already!) I'm sure most people would stop if they thought they could help, but don't think the law obliges them to?

No such law in the UK but in some countries - continent and USA - there is a charge of failing to render assistance. The French used that one against one of the photographers who got shots of Lady Dianna after her fatal crash.
