hey, I'm not sure if this thread has been done before but I'm soon to get a 125. As the title suggests which would be the best for me, taking into consideration my less than superb money situation [erk to insurance]...

My friend sat on a Aprilia 125 and said it's tiny (and the insurance)

cheers

Well I ride a Cagiva SuperCity 125, it's a sort of SuperMoto 'style' bike, shares a lot of bits, engine, brakes, etc, with the Mito, and the Planet, I love it for the commute but it's not exactly a sunday afternoon B road thrasher (I've got the car for that ) The bikes can be picked up for under £1500 and my insurance was £120 1st bike no NCB but I am 30

If I remember rightly, Yamaha have just made a learner legal 125 which looks like a mini R1/R6. Look on their web site.

Never actually owned a 125, other than a twist'n go and kids bikes the smallest I've had was a 250 but over the years I have tried a few, mainly off-roaders.

Anyway 2 years ago I had my Ducati serviced at a dealer who was also an Aprilia dealer and was loaned an Aprilia RS125 for the day (and next day as my bike needed a new part which had to be ordered) and it was a scream, deristricted, I had about 90-95 (indicated) out of it, sure it was lacking in 'grunt' and overtaking was tricky but it sure went well for such a small bike.

If I was after a 125 I can't imagine anything would be more fun except maybe the RS250, oh hang on that's not a 125...
