Whining gearbox ?

took the bike out last night for a pre PF blast and the gearbox sounds louder than normal , whenever i accelerate it whines deaccelerate and it shuts up , ive just had new chain and sprockets fitted so could it be linked with them ? im taking the bike in friday to get the noise checked out hopeing its not bearings starting to go

I hope its just me being a nervous neddy as i havent had much time to ride it recently , If it is the GB it looks like the focus might be doing the trip

Den is ya chain too tight? as that can put a hell of a stain on the output shaft & may cause a bit of a whine.

Hi iguana a mate has just taken it out for a long blast who also owns a ninja and says it sounds fine (apart from the bloody annoying tapping from the emission control crap under the tank)

So the bike is going to PF

I would definitely check that chain tension anyway - it only takes a second. It's likely that you'd be sensitive to a change in noise on your own bike that your mate wouldn't. As Iguana says too tight a chain will put a huge load on the gearbox bearing which could possibly be damaged over time.
