Hi all,

Just bought my bike and want some crash protectors - thinking of buying some R&G racing ones, as they seem good(?)

Is fitting them easy? Or should I be getting a dealer to do it? Quite possibly a dumb question but it hasnt stopped me before

On your bike(which is nice by teh way) as you dont have a full fairing it will probably be extremely easy.

On my bike I removed an existing bolt that went through the frame and into the engine and simply replaced it with a longer one (and the protector obviously)

I bought some BSD ones for me cbr , nitemare as the fairing needed to be cut

So put it in to get that done

remeber that if is an engine mount bolt then it may have to be torqued back up

i had some BSD Race spec crash bungs on the hornet, they were massive and certainly would have done the job, though they were never tested in the field...

crash bungs are easy to fit generally speaking

Not familiar with R&G protectors, but if the're cheap and look a bit lightweight, then steer clear. Crappy protectors can actually do more damage than good (seen photos of the protector bursting through the frame, or just disintegrated on impact for example).

I bought ART protectors for my GSX-R750 and they are fantastic. One side of the fairing needed to be cut into for most other protectors, but those clever boys at ART also supplied a supplementary bracket that meant no cutting required, as well as supplying replacement fixing bolts of the correct length.

They we also a doddle to fit.

unfortunately it appears that ART dont make bobbins for my bike (MY03 Triumph Speed 4) I'll give them a ring and check but its not listed on their website. They are really great looking though!
