Ducati reccomend 20w-50 & I understand that if it is too thin eg 5w-50 then it can cause problems as the cams drain 'dry' when stopped and although thinner oil circulates faster it doesn't leave such a coating and so can cause excessive wear - there is a lot of load on the cams, Shell advance is good - Ducati use it in their 998 & 999 race bikes.
