The other day I wrote about my tyre going down because of the metal valve caps.

Well its stayed up holding pressure perfectly at 36psi after putting back the plastic caps.

The problem is the first time I rode afterwoods I was sure something was wrong but I put it down to losing confidence because It was quite a scary moment and very difficult to ride to a garage to pump it up.

So I went again on it yesterday did 66 miles and I'm sure somethings wrong. It seems to squirm under hard braking and I just dont have any confidence in the front end like I used to.

The question is is it me or could the tyre be damaged by running on it flat?
Its almost new about 400 miles only Bridgstone BT012ss
help what do I do?

How flat was flat ? you may have damaged the walls of the tyre , i know its not cheap but it might be worth getting it checked out and possibly replaced

If you rode on it for a long while, while it was flat you may of overheated the tyre weakening the structure, in which case a new tyre is the only answer.

Thats not totally true.

I had a flat due to a punture on a BT010. Ran for about 15 miles to get off the motorway!! The tyre was almost brand new, so had a plug fitted. It went on to do 2 trips to the Ring and a trackday at Castle Combe. The tyre should be fine, but if in doubt get someone independant to check it like the AA at Halfords.

thanks guys. I'm riding it again today for the first time since teh last post and if it feels dodgy then I will get it checked out.

I went all the way down an empty Motorway erm lets just say that I couldnt have gone any faster

I have been told that teh centrafugal forces may have kept my tyre up. Dont know if this is true what I do know is as soon as I came off teh motorway the bike was basicaly unridable in anything other that a straight line. I had to ride about another 3 miles with it vertualy flat
the last time I was on it I was convinced something was wrong we shall see.
This bike lark isnt easy is it
