Strokers !!!!!
Discussion
I currently have an Aprillia RS250, I was just wondering if there are many other 2 stroke fans out there. It is a real shame the nanny state has put an end to this little gem. Mine is 3 years old, 1100 miles, was thinking of selling it but may just store it for ten years or so then take it out and piss of all the eco warriors in their electric cars and anoraks!!!!!!
Yes, but lapsed! Had lots, from FS1-E through to Sanders & Lewis GT750. Probably the best was the watercooled Yamaha RD440 (Terry Shepherd conversion) which was featured in bike magazine in '82. Bananas it was!
It always used to amuse me that strokers were supposed to be revvy gutless torqueless wonders, but the GT750 out-torqued and out-flexed the GS750 Suzuki by a fair margin. It was a pig though!
Sad to say very few these days have heard the delights of a stroker triple through a 3-1 expansion chamber.

This sounds like music to my ears - not heard one for some time though.
I had the Suzuki 380 myself with 3 into 4 pipes and (ahead of it's time) digital gear indicator.
I'm a two stoke blue smoke fan as well. I have a Yamaha RD250E on a T plate that I'm renovating right now. Just need’s a bit more work, new seat cover and decals. Soon be back on the road.
I'm just about to buy an RD400E on a V plate too. There's still plenty of two stroke Yamaha's out there plus Kwak's and suzi's
I have built a web site about all the work I've done to this bike too. www.bgh.org.uk/mayfair/rd250.htm
