Airhorns- WSB & GP. Why???
Discussion
Am I the only one to really really hate these??
I just dont get it, particually at the GP when the 4 strokes sound like no road bike you have ever heard surely any biker just wants to hear these exotic bikes, yet 100,000 halfwits want to blow a bloody airhorn in my ears.
I now won't got to the GP or WSB because of it, qualifying is still ok but a few airhorn halfwits at last yrs GP qualifying.
I've not been to an overseas GP or WSB but from TV footage this does seem to be predominantly a UK thing, although in europe they seem to be fans of fireworks!!

Agree wholeheartedly. Was at Donnington GP last year. Couldn't hear commentary or engines for air horns. Two old (60's) blokes with 5 year old in front. Kid had airhorn blasting it all the time. Worn out before the big race. Was about to stick it up a very dark part of his anatomy!! Seems it's mainly kids that use them. It spoilt the racing a bit though, or am I just a boring old fart?
Couldn't agree more airhorns should be banned at biking events, it seems to have got a lot worse in the last 2-3 years I don't remember airhorns being used much until about then - maybe I'm just getting too old but I prefer to hear the engines myself.
Went to WSB yesterday, always try to sit somewhere 'quiet' not in grandstands to try and avoid the masses and the f*****g airhorns but you always get a few nobs who insist on blasting the horns at every opportunity, mainly kids & middle-aged women - neither of which appreciate one of the greatest sounds of the modern day - racing bike engines on full chat.
FFS we have the authorities trying to stop 'meaty' exhaust notes on the road and the one place we can legally hear them, we can't actually hear them for nob'eds and their f*****g air horns.

I agree. I have no problem with air horns at the end of the race to apreciate the riders but last years GP was a p*ss take. I never got to hear Rossi's bike as it was drowned out by the b@st@rds on every lap.
I think eurosport has picked up on the pleasure listining to the sound of bikes as they are the best commentators I know. They shut up, and even leave a microphone open so you can listen to the bikes. (Volumne gets turned up on my TV)
