Oh bugger.

What a great friday 13th I've had, with an 'off' that had the normal result i.e one rather messed up bike & a rather sore me

Only a slowish lowside so I'm only a bit battered & bruised although ankle very sore- not broken tho luckily & bike although also a bit battered rode home so should I hope be ok after a bit of £ & TLC.

So guess what I'll be mostly be trying to fix doing over the weekend....

I guess an 'off' every 4 yrs is not a bad record, hope thats it then for another 4 then

Very pleased you're alright....and nothing broken. As you say, once every four years ain't bad.

Bad luck about your bike.

Bugger.

But if you've got to have an off every so often that's the type to have.

Cheers guys,

bike should be ok (I hope) I rode it home- with the indicators smashed, mirror hanging off & no rear brake lever etc. Bars (clip ons)are not straight but im hoping they have just twisted on the forks rather then the frame or forks being bent particually as they are rather pricy Showa upside downie jobs.

It looks horrible at the moment but at least it appears no engine casing damage.

The hugely embarissing thing is that its not my own bike, I was doing my buddy a favour by sorting out his new tyres while he was away working so he could have it on Sunday...

The Good thing is its that not a mint bike, so assuming frame is not bent at least the always empty iguana wallet will not have to get it up to new bike type standards on the cosmetics. Will give it a bit more 'cred' on track days anyway

I'm ok, just gunna be hobbling about for a few days & should have some evil looking bruises to show for it & bizarrly I have a loose tooth now too.

At least I came off on my right hand side this time, as my last rather larger 'off' was on my left so at least I can limp on both legs now oh and I can say I've had both my knees down in road riding just it happens to be 4 yrs apart and both times I was mid crash

Right I'm taking the frozen peas off my foot & the sweetcorn off my leg & going to bed.

was it the new tyres then, or did you hit some oily stuff?

let me know what the bike is, I have access to 37 different indicators suppliers and some mirrors, I may be able to ease the wallet damage?

In truth I'm not sure, I'm always very careful with a new front tyre and I had already done approx 4 miles of similar bends and I had been doing my bike racer type weave on the straight bits to try and scrub the tyres a bit.

However both front & rear tyres had a nasty axle grease type sploge on them on the right hand side (not tyre fitting lube) so that does point to something oily perhaps being the cause, now I can walk ok I'll go back down the road today (in the car tho!) and have a check.

I'd like to think its was oil especially after saying to a fella getting a new front a the same time as me to be very careful!!

S2ooz cheers, I will drop you an e-mail with the bike info & the bits I'm after.

..sorry to intrude into the 2 wheeled world, but what does "prefer a lowside to a highside" mean..?

All the best for speedy recovery and sourcing of parts.

A lowside is when your wheels slide away from under you and you fall on the floor. A highside is when your wheels slide, you let off the throttle, your wheels grip and the resulting momentum throws you over the top of the bike. You fall from not such a great height on a low side and it should hurt a bit less.

ouch ! sorry to hear about this - haven't looked in this folder for a while or would have replied sooner.

That slo-mo moment, and the sickening sound of metal & plastic destroying themselves on the ground. Another reason why I'm quitting!

Get well soon.
