My Insurance company have asked for any modifications to the bike. I am in the process of fitting 45mm Termignoni's to a 2001 748 and have inquired about the difference in premium. They say that they will cover them for little difference as long as the cans are road legal. Where do I stand, as I believe that the Termi's are not road legal. Anyone had experience of this?

Make a phone call to the fella who advertises the rivet on road legal stamps in the back of MCN- sorted.

I've had my can engraved with the BS mark but a rivet on stamp would look more professional.

I had this quandry, I did fit a race can for a while, but, potentially I suppose my insurance company could've voided the policy in the event of a claim by a 3rd party which could financially be catastrophic (should the insurance company find out i had an illegal can). The thing is a lot of bikers fit race can you tend to think it cant be that bad. Maybe some legal experts/plod could confirm. Dunno what insurance companies would do. I had heard there are companies that cover you with race cans. In future i think i would fit an aftermarket road legal can, not as nice as a race can but peace of mind should anything go pear shaped.

edited to say my insurance company said i was only insured if the aftermarket stuff was road legal, i guess some dont have this requirement, its worth checking at the time of taking out the policy.

I told my insurers about the race can, and they noted it on the Schedule. So, they know and agreed to insure me with it fitted - job done, no extra cost.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know if a pair of carbon termis for a 916 will fit a 748?

Well, I sold a pair of Termi's off a 748 to my business partner who fitted them to his 916, so I guess the answer is yes ! The 916 was a 1996 Biposto and the 748 was a 1997 Biposto.

Carbon Termis for 916 also fit 748, 996 & (I think) 998 the only difference is the chip required to alter the fuelling
