My Insurance company have asked for any modifications to the bike. I am in the process of fitting 45mm Termignoni's to a 2001 748 and have inquired about the difference in premium. They say that they will cover them for little difference as long as the cans are road legal. Where do I stand, as I believe that the Termi's are not road legal. Anyone had experience of this?
I had this quandry, I did fit a race can for a while, but, potentially I suppose my insurance company could've voided the policy in the event of a claim by a 3rd party which could financially be catastrophic (should the insurance company find out i had an illegal can). The thing is a lot of bikers fit race can you tend to think it cant be that bad. Maybe some legal experts/plod could confirm. Dunno what insurance companies would do. I had heard there are companies that cover you with race cans. In future i think i would fit an aftermarket road legal can, not as nice as a race can but peace of mind should anything go pear shaped.
edited to say my insurance company said i was only insured if the aftermarket stuff was road legal, i guess some dont have this requirement, its worth checking at the time of taking out the policy.
