My 916 had a flatspot when new between about 4000 - 5000 rpm I was told it was 'programmed in' to help it pass noise emissions test (they test the noise level at a certain rpm) Soon got it sorted as the 'chip' for the 'termis' has no such flatspot (might not pass noise test though) but it must be possible to tune it out without replacing the cans - on 916 you need to alter the chip & fuelling - but on a Blade I would imagine a good tuner with a Dyno could sort it
If the flat spot makes a difference to your acceleration then you must be wanted to accelerate hard so it baffles me why you are sitting at or below 5000rpm anyway. I would only go below 6000rpm in town or when starting or stopping. If I slow down so I go below 6000rpm I change down. It's a bike not a car, use the lower gears.
