Picture the scene. You are making progress along a favourite B road. You come up to an excellent 90 degree right hander. You know the bend well, it opens out beautifully post apex and is well surfaced. There are no junctions for miles around. You set yourself up perfectly and are just about to tip the bike in when a max power muppet comes steaming around the corner in the opposite direction in an old Fiesta, totally crossed up, understeering wildly, across the centre line, eyes the size of saucers.

I swear he must have gone straight through me without touching me. There is a God, and thankfully he took pity...

Erm . . . observation? Might have been a tree down, or a stopped tractor on the other side of the bend.

Just a thought Sorry, I've been out on Bikesafe today with the boys in blue and they showed us some fairly harrowing piccies.

I'd have easily been able to stop in time - making progress is not the same as being reckless. Big difference between finding a stationary object and one that's moving rapidly towards you on your side of the road.
