Just purchsed a 2001 model 748S in Yellow with 45mm Termis. Anyone had any experience/problems/tales about ownership of this bike??

Pick it up next Thursday! Cant wait.

Got one word for you.....

ENVY!!!!!

I owned a 750SS for five years - it just oozed character (even when it wasn't playing nicely!) and I still crave the pleasure.....

Dynojetted and Boss pipes..........burble, burble, roar!

The salesman recommended an FIM Chip to complement the Termis but I think I will wait and see what the standard bike is like first.

Oh yeah, can anyone also recommend an advanced riding course; recognised, if possible, by the insurance companies to reduce the premium cost?

Despite some people's perception I would highly recommend the IAM. As you're in Camberley (snap!) you have Thames Vale Advanced Motorcyclists right on your doorsteps. Great bunch of people (over 700 bikers of all different types) for improving your biking experiences! Be glad to pass on some more info if you're interested.

Hi M3EVO!!

TOP choice of Bike!!

I had a Y Reg 748 'E' - fantastic bike - always wanted the 'S' but ££ - there is still lots you can do to it -I am very surprised that the chip wasn't done when the tergs were fitted - they usually do it then. Have a look under the seat unit at the back (behind the battery - you will see if the chip has been replaced because the sticker seal will be broken)

Where are you getting it from?

I run a MSN group - lots of the memebers have Dukes mostly 748's - some of the guy's from here have joined (but are keeping very quiet!!) check it out if ya want any more Duke Chat.

954 Girlie, Thanks for the forum link. I shall be wandering over to have a look now. What is the 748 like to live with?

Hi,
I had a 748 SPS for a couple of years, sold it last year.
Mine had the racing chip/termis etc.
One of the best bikes I have ever owned! I had no problems with the bike at all.
I must warn you that the riding position can get a little painful if you are not used to super sport bikes. It can be a real issue if you intend to do any really long runs.
All in all a great ride with a fantastic exhaust note.
Enjoy.
Cheers
SPS

To live with?? Hmmmm I would have taken it to bed wiv me if I could have!!!

did several mega trips to Europe for trackdays - all weathers - sometimes 1000 miles in a day, never a problem, always a pleasure to ride & own. Like I said the interim servicing (especially after a track day) helped keep the clutch tip top (it did get a bit gnarly - technical term there!!) just had the plates swapped round & my mechanic took an airline to it to get rid of the dust build up cos I didn't have a vented cover. Other than that lurrrvley!!

Glad to see you found us!

Congrats

I picked up my 916 Duke today.......havn't riden for two years and never even sat on a duke before......the ride home was bliss.

As promised my one is yellow has termigoni's, been chipped and has carbon everywere, incidentally I found CIS provided the best quote as they didn't care about the mods.

Happy riding

954 Girlie, Got the go ahead for the Duke Crew group so I tried to send a couple of emails but to no avail. Is it fairly slow to update?
