Hi, I have put the RS250 idea to rest but have found two bikes locally, one of which I will be buying in the next day or two.

Just wondering if anyone has owned/rode either and are there any major problems or areas I should be aware of? Do either of these sound good to you?

A: 96N Honda CBR600. 21000 miles. Black but with a few scratches on both fairings. Starts fine and has new tyres, oil change and filter. 3 months warranty. Dealer seems a nice guy.

B: 95M Kawasaki ZX6R. Red. Don't know exact mileage and only spoke to dealer on the phone briefly.

If the ZX has the similar good deal (warranty, new tyres, MOT) as the CBR then would it be a better bike to go for? Both are £2200.

Thanks in advance for any opinions/help.

I Currently Ride a 97 CBR600 and can highly recommend them as a first bike as they are alittle more forgiving than something like an R6.
The Kwaker is also an excellent Bike and isnt to disimiliar to ride as the Cbr, but would be down to looks in the end and personal prefrence.

£2200 doesnt sound Bad for the cbr but maybe a bit steep for the Kwaker IMO.

Evening erm im going to have to agree with BB about the honda might be the better machine to start out on , on the ZX6 and the honda check the down pipes as they are mild steel and aint cheap to replace , the ZX6 is a bit lighter as it has an alloy frame whereas the CBR is steel but you would hardly notice on the move , also the rear shock on the ZX6R goes soggy quick , ive not ridden the cbr but the ZX goes mental above 9000rpm best thing to do is ride them both and see which one you feel more confidant on also check insurance

Cheers everyone

Am I going to notice big differences between the two? I feel comfortable on both but is the CBR much better for a starter or would I not notice any difference after a few rides?

The price is good for the CBR (which are usually £500 more, so it is a bargain) it is cheaper because I asked for it without the scratches sorted.

I thought that the ZX6 was quite a good price too compared to others I looked at, what should I be paying?

2200 sounds about right for a zx6 F1/F2 , have a good look round though you might be able to get a newer G1/G2 for that money . Happy hunting

I've had both, and the ZX6 gets my vote. Outrageously fast, well, my 636 was. Handled brilliantly! cbr feels higher quality though, just not so exciting (raw).
