What is the amount of CC that is allowed for an 18 year old and what sort of performance would one expect to get from it?

Appreciate the replies.

At 18 and as a learner, provided you have completed CBT and hold a provisional licence for motorcycles, you can ride up to 125cc unacompanied, or if you take your test on a 125, then any size machine you like provided it does not exceed 33BHP.

After 2 years on a restricted licence you can then ride any bike you like, or if you are 21 or over you can take direct access where the test is done on a bike producing a minimum of 47BHP after which you can ride any bike you like.

Remember as a learner, you must complete CBT, and if you fail to take your test within two years you will have to do it again in order to be able to continue riding, you will also be required to take the theory test, and as a learner you must also display L plates clearly to the front and rear of the machine otherwise you are looking at 3 points and a £60 fine for each L plate offence which includes cutting them down in size.

And as for performance - enough to kill yourself. Most 125s will make 80+, its more the acceleration you will be missing in the real world. You will be on par with a fast car.
