Show us yer first Bikes
Discussion
Well we've had 'show us yer bikes' and every now and then we have a first bike advice/recomendations, thought it might be interesting to see where you all lost yer biking cherry.
Mine was a 1969 Ducati 250 Scrambler, with left-side kick start & brake and Right-side 1 up 4 down gear shift. The exhaust can had no internals whatsoever and was ferkin' loud - used to backfire on the overun - lighting up the road behind in the dark! - shame it couldn't light up the front as the 6v Glow-worm headlamp bulb was pi55-poor. Great fun though!

Believe it or not I aspired to an MBX80 but could only get my hands on a Garelli Noimatic 2V. It was some sort of Italian step thru moped but it did have 2 (count em) gears!
My friend had an MBX80 which he upgraded with a 100cc engine from the H100S...all that effort for an extra 20cc's!
Once I got a job I was able to move up to a Yamaha RXS100 which was my first 'proper' bike.

Parked it at the end of the culdesac with lock on and steering lock (on forks type)
left school one afternoon and infront of the girls did a wonderful turn under acceleration only to find it kept going to the left
onto he kerb and off
ARSE - takethe lock off!
bit embarrassing or what

Like Danhay I started with a Garelli Bi-matic 2 speed step-thru. It was red with pale grey leg shields, very tasteful. Most of the time it only used 2nd gear but I live near a long 1-in-9 hill. The poor little bike struggled up the hill going slower and slower, until just before it ground to a standstill and I was about to fall off, it clonked into 1st and the motor whirred into life again.
Being Italian it had a design feature only apparent in heavy rain. Water rain around the petrol tank and dripped straight onto the spark plug, causing the inevitable misfire.
Pathetic little machine.

Did something similar with a disc lock on my Bandit 600 (1st proper bike), fractured my wrist and spent 11 weeks in POP
I had a Vespa 50 Special before that.

You've got me all misty eyed now!
After I passed my test (having never really ridden before) my mate let me borrow his bike for a month.
It was a custom made street fighter.
Spondon race frame
GSXR1100 tuned engine
Beautiful paint job
Extreme, Fast, Scary (because it was his pride and joy) and a great lesson about power control.
Makes my ZX6R feel tame
