I'm after radio's for two people to use while riding (both being able to speak). Anyone know which ones there are & what's good?

Yes and no. Most are PMR446. which means they use the 446Mz frequency government guidelines.
You can get VHF, but you need a £12 licence, these seem hard to track down, as all the shops have 446.

I tried a cheap 446 Vs expensive at the weekend, distance was similar, but vocal quality was markedly better.

dont expect more than 1/4 mile range.

Me and a mate went for Autocom gear (www.autocom.co.uk/). We chose:

* Pro-rider system
* ICOM transceivers
* plus all the wires, earpieces, microphone booms etc for both bike-to-bike and bike-to-pillion.

Dead expensive at around £500 each, but bloody good. Bike-to-pillion quality if fabulous. Bike-to-bike naturally depends on how far apart you get, and what's inbetween you both.

Not sure how far that range is, but with this system it's way over 1/4 mile. We've easily been a couple of miles apart and still been in range.

There are lots of cheaper solutions out there that are patchy in quality, range etc. These are the Daddy of intercoms (at a price to suit unfortunately).

originally bought the Nady MRC11 (imported two from the states for the same price as one over here - different frequency to UK ones) seemed to work ok til my mate bust his in a big off. He still uses my old one for rider to pillion (went to France for a week last month with his gf)

Now got the Autocom Pro - only used it once so far (for rider to pillion), but it was far superior to the Nady...
