Final drive: how hot?

...should it get? It's a torquey motor with shaft drive. I find the gear casing gets pretty hot, and the bike seems to run slower when it does.

I added molyslip, and suddenly seems like about 5bhp's worth of drag released + casing runs cooler.

Do any of you lot have experience of this sort of thing?

PS, when riding it "slowly", the casing stayed cooler anyway, it's only ballistic launches / flat out riding that seem to heat it up. Normal or what? how hot is ok?
